“A certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me. So he divided to them his livelihood. And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living. But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want. Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything. But when he came to himself, he said, how many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger, I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants. And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son. But the father said to his servants, bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. And they began to be merry.” Luke 15:11-24

When the prodigal son asks his father the first time for his portion of wealth, his father did not in any way argue with him, he gave him all that was right for him without holding back for any reason, and when the boy came back, this time empty-handed after wasting all he had previously received from his father, his father did not ask him any question, did not scold him, did not ask him of the previous one, but he accepted him, restored him, and gave him a new beginning, not as a servant which he requested for, but a son which he was with full privilege, a beginning that was better than his expectations, a beginning that was beyond his thoughts and his request, a beginning that even infuriated others.  Don’t you think God can and will do the same for you?

The prodigal son had the best idea of what he wanted in life, he had all set up in his mind to fly up high and conquer all obstacles, and become great, but despite all he thought, all he knew, all he collected from his father, despite his best ideas, struggles, and efforts, he soon realized he was had failed, he had suddenly become a failure and miserable with no one to help him out. He begged and everyone who has and can help refused to give or help him in any way. His friends departed, his associates departed, his hope failed, his ideas died, and his efforts and struggles in surviving never lead to what he wanted or expected. He started turning to himself and talking to himself and reasoning about the way forward, about to best way to handle himself, no one gave him advice, no one came close to him, no friends and no associates, and the only best way for him was to look forward to meeting his father in his fathers house, not backward to what he did, his new reasoning was to have a heart to heart conversation with his father and the best way was to go back to a place he called and knew as home, a place his father dwells, a place he could be accepted, a pace he would have something to do and a place that is full of abundance and ask to be given another chance, to be given a new beginning.

When he did, it was granted even much more that he expected. “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him.” Matthew 7:7-11. For prayers, Click here
