WHERE IS SIN IN MY LIFE OH LORD? (1)

“Well then, am I suggesting that these laws of God are evil? Of course not. No, the law is not sinful, but it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known the sin in my heart, the evil desires that are hidden there if the law had not said, you must not have evil desires in your heart. But sin used this law against evil desires by reminding me that such desires are wrong and arousing all kinds of forbidden desires within me. Only if there were no laws to break would there be no sinning.” Romans 7:7-8. The purpose of God’s law is not to destroy any human being but to keep everyone from sinning, from physical and spiritual condemnation, from continuing in any kind of sin, from destruction by the effects, the powers, and the consequences of sin; it is to keep everyone from being overtaken and influenced by Satan to do his evil works.

Writing about the law, we read in the Scriptures; “God’s laws are perfect. They protect us, make us wise, and give us joy and light. God’s laws are pure, eternal, just. They are more desirable than gold. They are sweeter than honey dripping from a honeycomb. For they warn us away from harm and give success to those who obey them. But how can I ever know what sins are lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults. And keep me from deliberate wrongs; help me to stop doing them. Only then can I be free of guilt and innocent of some great crime. May my spoken words and unspoken thoughts be pleasing even to you, O Lord my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:7-14. The laws of God are to bless us, to keep us in God’s love, to make us relevant before God and always useful through His power on earth. His law keeps us from doing evil, doing things that are contrary to righteousness and to salvation.

One of the greatest advantages of being safe is that God through the working of His Spirit and the revelation from the scriptures, gives us the assurance that we are sons and daughters of God; that we have the power of His love working for us, in us, and through us at all times. It also helps reveal to us our weaknesses and hidden sins. True salvation helps us know when we are right and when we are wrong, it helps us seek repentance and forgiveness; it helps us make corrections and restitutions and it keeps us happy and hopeful even in times of fear and shame. Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of the Almighty God came into the world to deliver human beings from the grips and wickedness of Satan; He came to save all humanity from the destructive power of all sins; He came to teach us the ways of being right with God; teach the laws of righteousness, the laws of God, and show us the way to earn favor and love from God. He came to the world so that humanity will not be destroyed, yet many are being destroyed every day, why.

Christ Jesus did not fail in His mission, God did not fail in His decision, His laws are not weak or insufficient, His words are true and His purpose will be fulfilled. Christians are not in any way sinning willingly; they do not sin deliberately; do not desire to remain in sin, and will not want to be pulled aside in sin. But unfortunately, sin is creeping into the lives of many Christians in ways that are beyond imagination. While we strive to be sin-free, we see ourselves in sin in ways that are offensive to our salvation and to our Lord. We see hidden desires for sin and actions of sin in our ways and thoughts, and these hidden acts caused us to be out from the will of God. While sin hides in the lives of the believers and followers of Jesus Christ to cause all physical and spiritual harm and havoc, their results are not hidden, their consequences are not hidden and their effects are felt every day. God does not want sin to hide in us anymore, He does not want us to suffer in sin and in the hands of the devil and the wicked of sin anymore, He does not want us to remain in sin anymore. He wants us free from sin and being free from sin does not require prophecy or dreams to identify what sin is in our lives as Christian, it requires the knowledge of the laws, of the words, and the revelation of ourselves by the word of God through the help of the spirit of God dwelling in us.
