THE LORD WILL GIVE YOU A SIGN

“Then the Lord spoke again to King Ahaz saying, ask a sign for yourself from the Lord your God, one that will convince you that God has spoken and will keep His word, make your request as deep as Sheol or as high as heaven. But Ahaz said, I will not ask nor will I test the Lord. Then Isaiah said, hear then O house of David. Is it too small a thing for you to try the patience of men, but will you try the patience of my God as well? Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign, listen carefully, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will call his name Immanuel, God with us. He will eat curds and honey when he knows enough to refuse evil and choose good. For before the child will know enough to refuse evil and choose good, the land of Canaan whose two kings you dread will be deserted, both Ephraim and Aram. Isaiah 7:10-16

King Ahaz had fears within and without, he feared the kings of the land of Canaan and its people and he never knew what to do until when Isaiah came with the word of God to restore his courage, his trust and his dependence on the Almighty God. He was told to ask God for a sign concerning the victory He had promised them, concerning the land of Canaan He had given them and concerning their peace and possession of the land. King Ahad refused to ask for a sign but Isaiah told him, God Himself will give you a sign to depend on for the coming victory, for the coming destruction of the people and land and king you fear and a sign that will confirm all the words of God to the children of Isreal.

God had given you His words and He will do what He had said; the Lord had given you the very best of His promises and He will confirm them; God will give you a sign to assure you that what He said will come and what He promised will be fulfilled. On that date, at the exact time, at the destined place, and at that very moment, your destiny will open up as designed by Him alone, He will give you the strength to get up and walk out of every physical or spiritual slumber; He will open your eyes to see all of what He had promised; He will open your heart to remember what He had said to you privately and publicly in His word; He will give you all the ability you need to recollect vividly all that He had promised you, and He will give you the grace to have them. On that day, at that time, in the very place, and at the very moment, your expectations will all be fulfilled, no enemy will be able to stop you, physical weakness will not be able to hinder you and all the wicked bondages will not stand on the way to prevent you again.

Signs are assurance of things to come, they are given to raise our expectations and hope; they are given to strengthen our weak faith and reassure us of our beliefs; signs gives us the courage not to give in to any kind of disappointment or frustrations from the devil; they are given so that we will not give up praying, trusting, and waiting God for His promised miracles; signs gives us the ability to rejoice in expectations despite our shame, our pains, and our suffering. Signs gives us directions with the assurance that we will surely get to our expected destination. As we follow the signs we are sure we will arrive at the destination, and we will not miss it despite the distance ahead and the stumblings on the way

When God gives you a sign, follow it, trust it, believe it, wait on it, depend on it, fix your hope and expectations on it and trust that God will fulfill it. “Later, Jesus appeared to the eleven as they were reclining at the table and He called them to account for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen. And He said to them, go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized will be saved but he who has not believed will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who have believed, in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak in new tongues, they will pick up serpents and if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them, they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.” Mark 16:14-18.
