AM I STILL A CHRISTIAN?

Yes you are if you did accept Jesus Christ as your only Lord and savior, confessed and turn back from past evil practices and had been following Him faithfully, seeking and doing His will, and keeping yourself from falling back into sin and evil deeds. You do not need a rocket scientist, a philosopher, a fortuneteller, a prophet or pastor, any medium, a rich or poor preacher, a dream or dreamer, a vision, any family member, not even the church or any other organization to convince you that you are a Christian. The Holy Spirit through the written scriptures, the thoughts in your heart and your daily actions are enough to convince you if you are one.

Riches is a good thing to desire in life but it does not truly define your Christianity neither does poverty which is a bad desire; affluence, wealth, success, failure, or the absence of difficulties in life are good indicators either. Your personal obedience and diligence in following God’s word is the very best and only reliable measure you can use and trust to produces the best answer that you can rely and put your trust on.

Your present problem does not in any way define you and your actual place in the Lord’s final designed will and purpose; it only defines where you are in the Lords plans for His next action. When the devil stripped Job of his wealth, joy and peace; Job did not loss his faith in God and did not loss his position as a child of God, the problem was an indication of what God was about to do next in his life. Though God can use many other means to bless Job, but He decided to use that method instead.

Many have been taken backward in thoughts and wondering if they are still Christians, if they are genuinely saved and freed from their past, if their future is secured and if they are adequately protected. These thoughts are a result of some persistent problems in our lives and our compering ourselves with others wrongly. Let not your situation today take you away from Christ Jesus. Paul knew he was a Christian though he had constant problems after his conversion. He said:

“Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they descendants of Abraham? So am I. Are they servants of Christ? I know I sound like a madman, but I have served him far more. I have worked harder, been put in prison more often, been whipped times without number, and faced death again and again. Five different times the Jewish leaders gave me thirty-nine lashes. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked. Once I spent a whole night and a day adrift at sea. I have traveled on many long journeys. I have faced danger from rivers and from robbers. I have faced danger from my own people, the Jews, as well as from the Gentiles. I have faced danger in the cities, in the deserts, and on the seas. And I have faced danger from men who claim to be believers but are not. I have worked hard and long, enduring many sleepless nights. I have been hungry and thirsty and have often gone without food. I have shivered in the cold, without enough clothing to keep me warm. Then, besides all this, I have the daily burden of my concern for all the churches. Who is weak without my feeling that weakness? Who is led astray, and I do not burn with anger? If I must boast, I would rather boast about the things that show how weak I am. God, the Father of our Lord Jesus, who is worthy of eternal praise, knows I am not lying. When I was in Damascus, the governor under King Aretas kept guards at the city gates to catch me. I had to be lowered in a basket through a window in the city wall to escape from him.” 2 Corinthians 11:22-30

Despite what Apostle Paul went through, he never one day think of retreating from the faith. Do not envy others when they are blessed, rather rejoice because God will do your own; He had not forgotten you, He will supply your needs, defend and preserve you for the blessing as He had promised.
