The Cross that Jesus Christ was crucified is not a symbol as some may think; it is the reality of God’s love, God’s power, and God’s mercies to all humanity, not for Christians alone. What happened on that Cross relates to the life we have now and in eternity for all humanity of all ages irrespective of faith, location, language, race, and profession. It holds the key to all human lives and hopes. The Cross speaks volumes concerning the past, assures us of the present things, and guarantees us the future even till eternity. The cross of Christ Jesus is not a sign of His weakness but a sign of His strength in place of our weakness and failures. History cannot change the Cross but the Cross can change history and has changed all forms of human history. Jesus Christ did not go to the Cross to change history but to change human beings and thereby changing the history of all human beings. The Cross is a place of change spiritually and physically.

He went to the Cross for our sake, not for His sake; He went to the Cross to pay the ultimate price for our sins not for His sins; He went to the Cross for the penalty of our sins and evil deeds, not for any sin He committed or evil deeds. The Cross was a punishment we should have been made to suffer; instead, Christ stood in and stood up for us by accepting to have the experience in His body personally on our behalf. He was the only willing and acceptable substitute for us by God. No one else came forward for us; no one was better and prepared for the punishment; no one was pure enough to stand for us on the cross; none else was acceptable, and no one else was so loving and interested in our have peace and living our lives to the fullest. Christ Jesus alone did and He showed it physically and practically on the Cross.

The Cross was a place of punishment for wrongdoing and evil deeds; a place where sinners were public made to suffer shame and disgrace; it was a place of public humiliation, condemnation, and death, but Jesus Christ accepted to take our place there while setting us completely free from all the consequences of our past and present actions and inactions. He went to the Cross to pay the price and to show us how much He loves us and how much He hates for our sins; He went to the Cross to remove all the hindrances of sins in our lives, in our destiny, in His future, in our works with Him and in our relationship with the Father. He went and suffered on the cross so that we will not have to suffer for our sins and we will be able to live sinlessly before Him. On the Cross, He set us physically and spiritually free to have life and have it abundantly.

He went to the Cross to remove the impossibilities that stood against us; to disarm Satan, weaken him, and give us victory over all forms of sins, over Satan, and over everything that sin and hell may throw at us. On the Cross, everything about life, living and humanity were changed forever and all impossibilities removed, possibilities made available for all; hope was restored, the assurance given with a guarantee; peace restored, what was lost spiritual restored, what was believed to be true and acceptable made accessible; doors of eternity were made possible, death was defeated,  healing and health restored; physical and spiritual weakness, shame, and humiliation abolished.

“But He was wounded and bruised for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace; He was lashed—and we were healed. We—every one of us—have strayed away like sheep. We who left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet God laid on Him the guilt and sins of every one of us. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He never said a word. He was brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He stood silent before the ones condemning Him. From prison and trial, they led Him away to His death. But who among the people of that day realized it was their sins that He was dying for—that He was suffering their punishment? He was buried like a criminal, but in a rich man’s grave; but He had done no wrong and had never spoken an evil word.” Isaiah 53:6-9. Jesus Christ offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for us all.
