Two things accompany faith, assurance from God and submission to God. The prayer of Elijah was effective because he heard from God before he prayed. Elijah had the assurance of answered prayer, with the assurance of what God asked him to do and say, He granted his request. Moved with that assurance and boldness, Elijah stood before King Ahab unafraid and prayed to assure the King that there will be no rain or dew from heaven for three and a half years and that no one magician or worshiper or prophet of Baal will be able to change the situation for that period of time except himself irrespective of the power, the location, the position, and the influence of the person. “Now Elijah, who was from Tishbe in Gilead, told King Ahab, as surely as the Lord the God of Israel lives, the God I serve, there will be no dew or rain during the next few years until I give the word” 1 Kings 17:1. Until I give the word to reverse that. what a powerful assurance and conclusion of a one-time prayer. Do pray with assurance, do not confront your troubles and situations with fear or uncertainty. Go before God with submission and stand up to your troubles and situations with the assurance of faith from the word of God.

Pray in faith, stand in faith, trust God with faith. Let faith be your strength while the reality of things you are going through is trying to weaken and destroy you; let faith be your word and your voice in your times of trouble and temptation; let faith be your visions and your hope when things are well and when they are not well. Faith in God and in His word is powerful and always shows the strength of our God. Faith brings blessings, speaks blessings, and assures us of God’s blessing. When all things fail, let not your fail in God and in His word fail; when the worst is rising against you instead of the best you want, still rely on faith to change the situation, rely on faith to redirect your thoughts and visions to Christ; let faith point you to heaven and to Christ Jesus; let faith open the doors and hearts that men had refused to open. What ordinary strength cannot do, faith-based strength can do. Ordinarily, Elijah could not stop the rain, but through faith and assurance from God his prayer was able to stop the rain and the dew.

What you cannot do ordinarily, you can do through faith in Christ and in His word; doors that had been closed against you can be opened with faith; troubles had refused all peace and settlement pleas from you can be settled through faith the word of God; situations that refused to change, to bow and to give way can be changed through faith in Christ and His word. Faith is able to change lives and situations, but it must first change you. Faith requires submission to God by you in all things and submission requires obedience to God’s principles in order to activate the power of faith into action.

Prior to that day, King Ahab was feared by all; Elijah had never read or seen someone stop the rain or dew, but when God gave him that assurance in his private prayers, he became bold to stand before Ahab and declare the intent of God. The intent was not to elevate Elijah, but to humble Ahab and turn the hearts of the people back to the Almighty God and stop them from worshiping the god of Baal and his prophet whom Ahab had elevated above the Almighty God. You don’t need to know how God will do it when you pray, all you need is having the faith to pray it, the assurance of faith to wait for the answer and the submission by faith to the will of God.

When God reveals it in His word, pray it according to His word, have faith in it by the assurance in His word, trust God for it by the promise in His Word, and expect it according to His will and His power through submission to God. Elijah did not go back to King Abad until God told him to do so, and when he went to Ahab again, he went with a fresh assurance from God, not the first assurance. “Later on, in the third year of the drought, the Lord said to Elijah, go and present yourself to King Ahab. Tell him that I will soon send rain. So Elijah went to appear before Ahab.” 1 Kings 18:1-2. God will give you a fresh assurance today. For prayers, Click here
