HOW MOSES OVERCAME DEPRESSION AND SELF- REJECTION (2)

Moses remembered his past days in his parents home, he remembered what his mother told him while nursing him in Pharaoh’s house; he remembered his days in the house of Pharaoh, his days before kings and men of honor and reputation in Egypt; he remembered the independence had in those days, his freedom to do whatever he wants, have whatever his heart desires to have, and use whatever and whoever he wants; he remembered his days in comfort and excess and luxury, he remembered his companions, friends, guards, and the future he desired for himself and for the children of Israel and for the Egyptians, but now looking back and examining the presence, he knew where he was, he knew the odd things he was doing to survive and the kind of companion he now has in the forest. He suffered rejection, loneliness, and isolation, he suffered lack and the freedom he ones had and all these things resulted in his being depressed and to reject himself.

I am quite convinced that Moses was not comfortable being in the forest with the flocks of cattle yet he had no other choice to make, but one thing was quite evident in his life, he never forgot he was an Israelite with a promise to their forefather Abraham; he never forgot he was a child of the God who remembers his children, who keep His promises and never changes His words; he never forgot he was a child of hope; he never forgets he was a child with a destiny from the time of his conception, a destiny that was quite different from what he was experiencing in the forest with the cattle. Moses never forgot how God had rescued him at birth, rescued him from the seashore, restored hope in his parents through him, and how God had placed him in the house of Pharaoh; he never forgot that God can do a miracle at any time despite the circumstance in his current location, in his current job, in the prevailing situation in the bush and despite all of his experiences in life. Despite what Moses was going through, he never lost the hope of a new life again, a profitable life and job again, renewal of his body, spirit, and mind and of being in God’s presence again. This is the kind of mind that will overcome, this is the kind of mind that will see God in action and recognize it is God in action, and this is the kind of mind that defeats depression and self-rejection. One thing was very sure in the mind of Moses and he was well determined to keep it so irrespective of the sorrows of loneliness, hunger, shame, nakedness, and feelings; he was not willing to return to Pharaoh or to Pharaoh’s house or to apologize for what he did to Pharaoh or any member of Pharaoh’s cabinet, he was not willing to seek Pharaoh’s acceptance again in any way. Moses was ready to suffer while trusting God for his life and his next step, he was ready to suffer while waiting for God’s redemption, God’s rescue and God’s restoration, he was ready to keep suffering until he sees and experiences the goodness of God in the land of the living and in his own life, and he was not disappointed at the end of his waiting. Thanks to our God, Moses did not wait in vain, did not suffer in vain, did not end in that forest and did not end being rejected and useless in the sight of God.

With this kind of mind in you as it was in Moses despite what he was experiencing, I know your own change and victory over depression and self-rejection will come, your liberation will come as God liberated Moses. The present situation, circumstance, location, and suffering cannot and will not stop God from remembering you as He did for Moses. you are still useful and valuable to God. He will do His miracle in your life as He did for Moses.

“Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro Reuel his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb Sinai, the mountain of God. The Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing flame of fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was on fire, yet it was not consumed. So Moses said, I must turn away from the flock and see this great sight why the bush is not burned up. When the Lord saw that he turned away from the flock to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said Moses, Moses and he said, here I am.” Exodus 3:1-4. Prayer Request Click here
