THE BLESSINGS OF OPEN EYES

In His love and mercy, God decided to make man after making everything in the entire world the way He planned and wanted and they were all perfect in all aspects. In the continuation of that same love and mercy, God gave the man He made all that He had created on earth but after a while, it was discovered that one thing was lacking in them; they had eyes but could not see themselves the way God saw and made them. It is evident that even when they had eyes and could see but in the sight of God they were spiritually naked and could not see their nakedness in the midst of God’s splendor. How many Christians today are like Adam and Eve in the same scenario of wealth and health without seeing the bigger picture of God had for them? Adam and Eve were made in the perfect image and likeness of God; God gave them the very of knowledge and memory; kept them in the best place on earth; made all of His provisions and resources available to them without stress and yet they were naked and never knew it.

All through the years and time that Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden, they never knew they were naked even with all the magnificent splendors around them until God did open their eyes to see themselves. That day, the awareness of themselves, of their environment and of their needs increased; they saw what they had never seen before even with open eyes; they had a new knowledge; they knew they needed something new; they knew something was lacking and began to look for ways to satisfy that new knowledge, Genesis 3:7. We have walked in blindness for too long and we should cry that God should open our eyes.

Though his servant had been with him for many years; had followed him in the mission to preach in many places, and had witness many miracles yet Elisha’s servant never knew God was with them in a special way; never knew they were divinely protected and will have victory in every circumstance until the day and time God opened his eyes to see the encampment of His armies around the mountain that Elisha was staying as against the numerous armies of king Aram that was sent to arrest them. 2 Kings 6:20. When our eyes are open our testimony will be sweeter and better before God and men; our hope will be sustained even in the middle of severe adversity; our words of faith will be with power and absolute assurance; our fears will turn to our strength; our level of boldness will be increased, and our walk with and trust in God will be easy.

The two disciples of Jesus Christ with all sincerity of heart never knew they were walking and talking with Jesus Christ Himself on their way to Emmaus. They had a sincere conversation with all convictions; had a sincere passion for a solution and answer, yet their eyes were not open for them to know Him. Though they had accepted Him as their messiah, they never knew Him when they were walking with Him and it took the opening of their eyes to come to know Him at that crucial time of their lives. God wants you to know Him better and the opening of your eyes will facilitate your knowledge and ability to comprehend things you have been pondering about. It took the divine opening of Jabez’s eyes to see himself differently despite what his parents saw and said of him at birth and despite the name they gave him that open his knowledge to demand for a change; it was the opening of his eyes that revealed to him that it was possible for him to have a change of situation and be blessed beyond sorrows; it was the opening of his eyes that enabled him to pray; it was the opening of his eyes that gave him victory in life; it was the opening of his eyes that enabled him to know that God answers prayers, gives changes and blesses those who call upon him. We will no longer be slaves to ourselves or to people when our eyes are open to see things that matter in our lives; we will no longer remain in ignorance when our eyes are open and know that God will bless us; when our eyes are divinely opened, we will definitely see the power of God working; we will grow in faith and in love; have assurance even when we are disappointed and frustrated by men, and we will glorify God better.
