“EXCEPT GOD WATCHES OVER YOU”

“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise early, to retire late, to eat the bread of anxious labors, for He gives blessings to His beloved even in his sleep. May the Lord answer you (David) in the day of trouble. May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high and defend you in battle. May He send you help from the sanctuary, His dwelling place, and support and strengthen you from Zion. May He remember all your meal offerings and accept your burnt offering. May He grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans. We will sing joyously over your victory, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners. May the Lord fulfill all your petitions. Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember and trust in the name of the Lord our God. They have bowed down and fallen, but we have risen and stood upright. O Lord, save the king; May the King answer us in the day we call.” Psalm 127:1-2, Psalm 20:1-9 Some trust in chariots, some in horses, some in education, some in wealth, some in location, some in name, some in history, some in connections, some in family ties and some is stored up wealth, but except the Lord watches over you, even your best dreams, best plans, best projections and best preparations may end up in vain. But that is not the will and destiny of God for you.

Do not take the power of evil forces for granted; do not underestimate the scope of evil and do not give them the chance to have you under their control indefinitely. There are things that God had destined for you that you will never get unless He watches over you from now; unless He leads you from now; unless He prepares the way for you from now; unless He guides you to that place from now. There are places He had destined for you to be; heights He had destined for you to attain; people He had destined for you to meet and grace He had destined for you to attain in life and unless the Lord watches over you, you will never get there. We read “Then he said to me, this continuous supply of oil is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel prince of Judah, saying, not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit of whom the oil is a symbol, says the Lord of hosts. What are you, O Great Mountain of obstacles? Before Zerubbabel who will rebuild the temple you will become a plain, insignificant. And he will bring out the capstone of the new temple with loud shouts of grace, grace to it. Zephaniah 4:6-7. It is not by any physical strength, knowledge or understanding, but it will by the Spirit of God leading you and watching over you that you are accomplished in the things that God had destined for you as a Christian.

David would never have been anointed if God did not watch over him while his parents placed no significance on him ever being better than others; he would have been killed by the lions in the forest when he confronted them; he would have been killed Goliath if God was not with him; he would have been killed by Saul if God did not watch over him, and he would never have been a king without God watching over him despite the anointing by Samuel. It would also have been impossible for the children of Israel to leave Egypt without God hearing and responding to their cries, without God sending Moses to stand up for them before Pharaoh in His name and without God confronting Pharaoh Himself, and without God fighting their battle against Pharaoh and the Egyptians armies and the seven nations that stood up to stop them. Without money, without prior preparation, and without knowledge of the way to follow, the children of Israel would never have reached the Promised Land. It would have been impossible for them to survive forty years in the wilderness without God meeting their needs, sustaining their wellbeing with His strength, might, protection and deliverance, mercies and forgiveness. They showed no signs of tiredness even after forty years in the wilderness without buckling. For Prayers, Click here
