No matter the situation, no matter the delays, disgrace, humiliation, and disappointments, the Almighty God in His love, by His power, and in the ability of His faithfulness will never forget or forsake or abandon the righteous. The life Zechariah is a proof and the miracle of Zechariah and Elizabeth his wife was an act of His faithfulness and power in doing the impossible even when it was past the time of expectation, even when we have forgotten due to events and time and even when we are written off and mocked by onlookers and people who disrespect our faith and commitment in and to the things of God. The strength of Zechariah was not in the fervency of his prayers but in his continuous faithfulness and unrelenting service to God and in the house of God despite forgetting his earlier expectations in marriage because of age; the strength of Elizabeth to conceive was not in her determination but in her unrelenting and unshaken believe in the Almighty despite losing hope on their earlier marriage expectations.

God is not looking at your age or your profession or nationality or status, neither is He looking at your name or wealth, He is looking at your consistency in believing and following Him even when it seems you are failing, you are aging fast and you are going nowhere despite your good deeds and expectations in life. God wants to see you in His presence always; He wants to see you doing His services, He wants to see your faith being active and useful and He wants to see you fulfilled and He will do it for His name to be magnified and glorified. That was what happened to Zechariah, he never gave up despite the past and the age and the failing expectations.

“One day Zechariah was serving as a priest before God because his group was on duty. According to the custom of the priests, he was chosen by lot to go into the Temple of the Lord and burn incense.  There were a great many people, multitude of people outside praying at the time the incense was offered. Then an angel of the Lord appeared to Zechariah standing on the right side of the incense table. When he saw the angel, Zechariah was startled, shaken and frightened. But the angel said to him, Zechariah, don’t be afraid. God has heard your prayer. Your wife Elizabeth will give birth to a son, and you will name him John. He will bring you joy and gladness, and many people will be happy because of his birth. Because John will be a great man for and before the Lord. He will never drink wine or beer and even from birth, he will be filled with the Holy Spirit. He will help many people, children of Israel return to the Lord their God. He will go before the Lord in the spirit and power like of Elijah. He will make peace between parents and turn the hearts of parents backs to their children and will bring those who are not obeying God back to the right way of thinking an wisdom of the righteous, to make a people ready, prepare a people who are fit for the coming of the Lord. Zechariah said to the angel, how can I know that what you say is true? I am an old man, and my wife is old, too. The angel answered him, I am Gabriel. I stand before God, who sent me to talk to you and to tell you this good news. Now listen, you will not be able to speak until the day these things happen, because you did not believe what I told you. But they will really happen and will be fulfilled at their appointed time.” Luke 1:8-20

Zechariah and Elizabeth married with expectation, lived together with expectations, believed and served the Almighty God with expectations but their personal expectation from God never came. When expectations fail, don’t give up on God; when expectation fails, don’t stop serving Him; when expectation fails, don’t give up following Him and don’t give up believing His words. God would have enabled Elizabeth to conceive without a vision but decided first to give Zechariah a vision concerning the forgotten expectation, something he never expected, that was the reason he argued and expressed impossibility due to aging compared to the promise in the vision. But God said the promise in the vision will come to pass and it did. Prayer Request Click here
