“And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counselor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom. And there came a messenger to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom. And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword. And the king's servants said unto the king, Behold, thy servants are ready to do whatsoever my lord the king shall appoint. And the king went forth, and all his household after him. And the king left ten women, which were concubines, to keep the house. And the king went forth, and all the people after him, and tarried in a place that was far off. And all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men which came after him from Gath, passed on before the king. And David went up by the ascent of mount Olivet and wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot: and all the people that was with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up. And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O Lord, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.” 2 Samuel 15:12-18; 30-31. The intent of this counselor is to remove you, cause you to cry, stripe you of your benefits and render you poor, homeless, jobless and in want naked for the rest of your life and those with you to remain without hope and support. God will turn their counsel to foolishness.

King David noticed something was happening; he noticed and heard people were moving; he knew something unpleasant was going on behind him, and he knew his life and that of his family were in danger. He also knew his reign as king in Israel was being threatened and the reason for the things happening behind him was to stop him from the king, remove him from the palace, take him down from where God had given him, humiliate him and finally kill him. David knew the reason for their actions and the consequence of their success. David knew he was strong and the enemy behind his trouble was strong also but most of all David knew the enemy will only succeed through the counsel of a counselor he had identified as Ahitophel. David knew that the victory he will not come through battle but through prayers and he cried out to God to turn the counsel given by the evil counselor against him to foolishness and amazingly God did just that. Did you know that the right prayer against the right target at the right time with the right motive in the right place will work much more than engaging in physical confrontations? Just that one prayer brought David’s enemies down, gave David the victory he needed against that formidable enemy who rise against his life, his family, and his reign. Through God’s answer, David had victory. His joy, family, and reign were completely restored.

Ahithophel knew David well; he was not a stranger to David’s family and his cabinet; he was an active insider and dependable adviser to David; a man with good intelligence, well knowledged in strategic and warfare planning, and wise with wisdom. David knew he could not stop this Aphitophel fro giving counsel but he could do something after he had defected to the enemy’s camp. Know that you are on a divine mission and you will not give a bad report to Jesus Christ our Lord; know that He did commission you for the mission, He anointed you to have excellent productive mission; He had given you the Holy Spirit to guide your heart and thoughts; He had given His words to direct your actions and planning, and His angels are there twenty-four seven to make sure the roads are clear for you to move ahead and intent of the counselor against the plans and will and desires of God for you will not succeed. Whoever is joining forces to bring you will not succeed because God will turn their counsel to foolishness. For prayer Click here
