“SPEAK DEAR LORD”

Post date: Feb 13, 2013 5:16:13 AM

While Eli was contemplating what to do next, Samuel was faithfully serving him and God was diligently making a way for Samuel. In the dark of the night, Samuel heard a voice that sets things right for him, that voice took away confusion, gave direction and establish faithful Samuel as a Prophet to replace Eli despite his age. There are several voices out there calling for your attention day and night for almost every reason. Some voices bring joy and some sadness; some speak of condemnation and some blessing, some are loud and open, while others are hidden in the heart and in the mind. Some follow us everywhere, while we deliberately take some along with us. You may have no choice in the voices you hear, but you must have a choice on which to believe, keep, and follow and what action to take thereafter. There are voices that will build and grow your relationship positively and there are some that will seek to tear it apart, some voices will draw you closer to God while some will want to distance us from Him. There are voices that speak of your well-being  your promotion, your blessings, and your next appointment with God’s designed destiny always reminding you to take hold of that glorious and hopeful future, and there are voices that always speak shame, disgrace, profanity and evil, seeking to always keep you in your past and compel you to believe and regret them. Samuel received a voice that blessed him:

“Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. The word of the Lord was rare and precious in those days; there was no frequent or widely spread vision. At that time Eli, whose eyesight had dimmed so that he could not see, was lying down in his own place. The lamp of God had not yet gone out in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was lying down. When the Lord called, Samuel, and he answered, here I am. He ran to Eli and said; here I am, for you called me. Eli said I did not call you; lie down again. So he went and lay down. And the Lord called again, Samuel, and Samuel arose and went to Eli and said here am I; you did call me. Eli answered, I did not call, my son; lie down again. Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord was not yet revealed to him. And the Lord called Samuel the third time. And he went to Eli and said; here I am, for you did call me. Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy. So Eli said to Samuel, Go, lie down. And if He calls you, you shall say, Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, Samuel! Samuel! Then Samuel answered, Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening” 1 Samuel 3:1-10

There are voices that tell you of your weaknesses, failures, and loneliness; and there are voices that will tell you, despite the past and the present situations, God will make new things. The voice you give your ears to hear, will definitely build your heart to expect, and your faith to believe Romans 10:17 “So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ (the Messiah Himself)”

What have you heard? What you give your ears to hear creates a picture in your heart that will surely reflect your expectation in life. God will not declare what He will not do and will not prompt you to listen and keep what will not build you up for His next appointment for you. All that He will allow you to do are things that will make you better and very successful. He will not tell you failing principles or lead you on a road and later abandon you, He abides forever.

“I, the Lord, have called you to demonstrate my righteousness. I will take you by the hand and guard you, and I will give you to my people Israel. And you will be a light to guide the nations. You will free the captives from prison, releasing those who sit in darkness. I am the Lord; I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols. Everything I prophesied has come true, and now I will prophesy again. I will tell you the future before it happens” Isaiah 42:6-9. Give your heart to keep and to follow His voice alone.
