"OUR GOD IS THE GOD OF ELIJAH"

Post date: Jul 27, 2018 4:44:38 AM

Though he was afraid of being killed as intended, he did not want to kill as a coward; he did not want to die without a challenge and he did not want to die like others. Though they intended to kill him, he was bold enough to stand up for the challenge and he was bold enough to declare his God openly. Elijah knew the mission will either save his life if successful or be killed if it failed. But he chose to do it openly and God also honored him openly. Besides sending fire, God openly honored Elijah before the people and their leaders and their prophets; He openly responded to the request of Elijah exactly, and He openly confirmed his word before the people. God also honored Himself openly, magnified Himself, showed the people openly the difference between Himself and the gods of Baal; He proved himself as worthy to be honored, worthy to depend on and to rely on and to trust; He proves Himself to be the only true God and the only one who is able to defend without compromise, to deliver from every kind of affliction and bondage, to save from the hands of every kind of power, and sustain in every situation. The God of Elijah showed Himself openly at the right time, in the right place and before the right audience when He was needed, He will do the same to you, hold your peace and keep your trust in Him.

Elijah called on his God openly and challenged the gods of Baal and his 450 prophets openly. It was not a secret encounter with his God, it was not a secret request in his hiding, it was an open encounter where king Ahad, his wife Jezebel, the 450 prophets of the Baal, and the community had gathered publicly; everyone in the community were invited and everyone came to see and to watch was will happen. Elijah put his life on the line for his God and he was not disappointed, was not humiliated and did not fail. It is my prayer that the God of Elijah will rise up on your behalf before the people and their evil counselors openly and magnify His power and words in and through you. So Ahab summoned all the people of Israel and the prophets to Mount Carmel. Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, how much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him, but if Baal is God, then follow him. But the people were completely silent. Then Elijah said to them, I am the only prophet of the Lord who is left, but Baal has 450 prophets. Now bring two bulls. The prophets of Baal may choose whichever one they wish and cut it into pieces and lay it on the wood of their altar, but without setting fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and lay it on the wood on the altar, but not set fire to it. Then call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by setting fire to the wood is the true God. And all the people agreed.” 1 Kings 18:20-24

Would you be bold enough despite your several challenges, fears, humiliations, insult, and shame stand up and declare your God openly despising what the people may thereafter to further bring you shame and discomfort because of your situation? The God that Elijah trusted and called is our God, He never sleeps, never slumbers, He is never distracted, never compromising, and He never forgets His own. He answered Elijah, He will answer you, as He honored Elijah, He will honor you, as He defended Elijah, He will defend you, as He humiliated the prophets of Baal and those who intended to kill Elijah openly He will humiliate your enemies and those intending or working to do you harm openly. In your case, the fire may not come, but the answer will come and you will be delivered, restored and blessed. His challenge was bold, purposeful and direct; it was from a transformed and renewed mind and heart; it was to honor God and restore His praise, and it was to call the children of Israel back to their God, the only living, and true God. Will God answer you? Yes, He will. Will He restore His people? Yes, He will. Will He remove the shame and the fears and the humiliations? Yes, He will. And He will do much more than you can and will ever think or ask. Call on Him now. For prayers Click here
