GOD OF MY NEW COVENANT

After the flood, God said He is establishing His covenant with Noah, note, He is not making but establishing what He had said and made before. “Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you, the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you, every living creature on earth. I establish my covenant with you; Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth. And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come. I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth. So God said to Noah, this is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.” Genesis 9:8-17

There is a Godly covenant waiting to be established in your life, and God will not fail in doing that this year. Noah did not ask God for a covenant, God established it with an everlasting sign of rainbow in the sky to always remind him and every one of us of that covenant. We serve the God who is committed to all His words, all His promises; His covenants are an affirmation of His words and promises to men. When God asked Noah to come, He showed His commitment to what He will do, a commitment that all of His promises will not fail, and that Noah will have all that He had said and promised irrespective of the situation or issues that may arise thereafter.

When God wants to do something new, He chooses a man; when He wants to show that He will never fail in words and promises He makes His word become a covenant. Covenants are definite statements, a binding agreement between two persons for specific purposes; every covenant has a seal of authenticity, demands, blessings, and consequences. Covenants can be transferred directly or indirectly from one generation to another and from parents to children. Covenants have huge positive or negative impacts on lives. It contains good or evil facts when agreed upon, cannot be changed, or canceled. Covenants can be replaced by another superior covenant that will be more powerful and effective. All human covenants have many conditions to follow, time, seasons, and moments of their effectiveness. The only true unchanging covenant is God’s own covenant with men, it cannot be changed, and does not demand any form of evil commitment or sacrifice. God’s covenant is superior and powerful than human covenants irrespective of what it is made of, and what it is sworn to, or what it is agreed to perform.

Whenever we give ourselves to obey and faithfully follow and are committed to Jesus Christ, we come under God’s new covenants, every other covenant becomes ineffective and powerless in our lives from then on. The Covenant of God through Christ Jesus brings us to the salvation we have and annuls every other covenant that had been working for, against, and in our lives. “The blood of goats, bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God. For this reason, Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.” Hebrews 9:13-15.
