“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance, to the full, till it overflows.” John 10:10. Depression is destructive to the body, to the mind and to the spirit; it is destructive o dreams and godliness, it is destructive to the efforts on making progress and getting ahead of issues that are important and urgent; it is an effective tool in the hands of the devil to curse hardship and disaffection, self-rejection and shame and withdrawal. It is a toll so often used to distract Christians from their expectations and from Christ. The result of any kind of depression is the consistent expression and feelings of lack of love from everyone, lack of care from those around, lack of feelings by onlookers, and lack of protection. Depression causes us to take our eyes off Christ Jesus and focus it on self and what we are currently experiencing; it affects our thoughts, imaginations, and desires negatively on every issue and makes us desire only self-satisfaction or nothing else. It makes us forget the love of Christ and disbelief His promises we had been hoping to receive. Depression makes us feel abandoned, forgotten, useless, hopeless and confused.

Depression comes because the thief had broken into our lives to cause the unexpected to happen continuously and prevent or delay the expected from happening. The thief had broken into our lives and had stolen our joy or take it away completely; the thief had broken into our marriages and stolen the good relationship necessary to maintain peace and continuous love; the thief had taken our hearts away from Christ and fixed it on our crises for too long; the thief had stolen our God-given visions and make sure we only receive his own interpretation of the vision and the reason for the mission; the thief had broken in to make our expectations from Christ and from Christianity only materialistic to satisfy temporal and fanciful needs that are only attractive as that of others in our comparison; the thief had broken into our finances to make us bankrupt due to uncontrolled greed and desires for every temporal thing and need; the thief had broken into our churches to make the message of Christ to be ineffective in guarding our lives, leading our ways, controlling our thoughts, and controlling our imaginations; the thief had broken in to take away our rights and privileges in believing in the words and promises of God.

The thief brake in because we had left the doors to our hearts and treasures opened for too long; we had stayed off our guards for too long, we have been distracted by our situations, we had forgotten the thief is smart and never backs out from any of his wicked mission and does not sleep; we have compromised our thoughts with the kind of things the thief fancies and desires to see in our lives; we had ignorantly or  mistakenly given the thief the access he needs to control what he wants in and around us. The thief only takes what he knows is good for our living, for our joy, good for our growth, and good for our relationship with Christ. Did you know that there are more depressed people around the world than we can imagine and many Christians are in that number? The thief had stolen our joy and it must be returned, it has stolen our peace and it must be taken back, it has taken away our dreams and desires in Christ and it must be returned, it has taken our focus away from Christ to self and it must not remain so, it had taken away our success and replaced it with failure and anger and rejection and we must be rescued, the thief has taken away our expectations from God and replaced it with expectations from men and we have to be restored. Depression is a wicked spirit taking captive of men, it is a curse from hell to keep us in fear, in shame, and in rejection, to take us away from God’s promises and words, it’s a distraction from what we should be in Christ Jesus and should have as true believers in His gospel; it desires to keep us focused on our shame instead of our success and being hopeful to the end, depression must stop. Depression is not part of our Salvation package; it is not part of Christ promises to you and it is not part of our expectation and it must stop. Prayer Request Click here
