From the very first day Abraham heard God speak to him; from the very day he decided to believe the words he heard; from the very day he decided to follow the direction of the word, he deliberately turned those words into a promise he can receive and a desire to live for, something to expect, and words that will definitely change his life for the very best. Right from that very day, Abraham never look back, never gave up, and never doubted its possibility. Throughout his life, Abraham was a man who lived with expectations from the words and promises of God he heard, and from God Himself. He never looked back despite delays and never gave up despite disputes and frustrations and disappointments. He never relied on strength for the words and the promises to come through; he never looked to men for help in fulfilling them and he never trusted anything else but the Almighty God.

Abraham trusted God for everything in his life and God did not disappoint him in any; because Abraham believed God, God also did for him what he could not do for himself, what men could not do for him and God even took Abraham far beyond his expectations in life. In all his prayers to God, in all his request from God, and in all his discussions with God at every moment, Abraham was always reminding God of his expectations based on God’s words and promises to him, he never deviated and never changed the topic; he always lived in obedience to follow every word believing God will fulfill His part and God did. When we turn the word of God we hear and believed into a promise we can receive and have, we give ourselves the chance of receiving, living in them, and fulfilling them.

“When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, I am God Almighty obey me and do what is right. I will make an agreement between us, and I will make you the ancestor of many people, exceedingly numerous. Abram bowed facedown on the ground. God said to him, I am making my agreement with you, I will make you the father of many nations, I am changing your name from Abram to Abraham because I am making you a father of many nations. I will give you many descendants, cause you to be exceedingly fruitful. New nations will be born from you, and kings will come from you. And I will make an agreement between me and you and all your descendants from now on. I will be your God and the God of your descendants. You live in the land of Canaan now as a stranger, but I will give you and your descendants all this land forever, I will be the God of descendants. God said to Abraham, you and your descendants must keep this agreement from now on. This is my agreement with you and all your descendants which you must obey. every male among you must be circumcised. Cut away the flesh of your foreskin to show that you are prepared to follow the agreement between me and you. From now on, when a baby is eight days old, you will circumcise him. This includes any boy born among your people or any who is a slave, who is not of your descendants.” Genesis 17:1-12.

Abraham did not count the cost of his obedience to every word of God; he did not see any of them as too hard for him to obey and follow; he did not think God will not honor His word and will not fulfill any of them. Abraham did not see God disappoint him in any way. In all things concerning all the promises, God took Abraham beyond all expectations even when others and even when Sarah his wife doubted God and the promises that Abraham was still expecting even in his old age. Let not your age be a hindrance to any of your expectations from the Almighty God; do not let poverty or lack, disappointments or overdue delays, frustrations or all forms of shame, loneliness or barrenness, joblessness or poor pay, colleagues or friends, family or bad relatives, spouse or children, accomplishments or failures, hopelessness or lack of help, and any form of frustration, fear or uncertainty force you to abandon your expectations from God. He will in this very life, take you beyond all your expectations. Prayer Request Click here
