THE MONTH OF EXPECTATIONS

Post date: Dec 5, 2012 6:01:13 AM

Both the rich and the poor have one thing in common this month. They all are expecting something good to happen to them. Something that will bring some happiness and joy, bring a different feeling of acceptance, relieved, excited, appreciation, courage and hope even when it is just for a few moment or days. Without saying it in words, everyone is expecting to either give or receive something irrespective of its value, size and color. If I may ask, what are your expectations from God this month? What are your expectations from people far and near this month? What are your personal expectations for yourself this month and next year? What do people expect from you this month? Of all the months in the year, the month of December is the one with the most expectation from individuals and from God in terms of giving and receiving. It is the month that expresses love in practical terms, care and the showing of sincere concerns and fulfillment of expectations.

It is the month that most people show their utmost best in terms of appreciating others; it is also the month that God first showed His ultimate best in fulfilling a promise to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden concerning salvation of mankind by giving us a savior Christ Jesus. We read, “For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He gave up His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him. He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation, he incurs no damnation.” John 3:16-17. The fulfillment of the promise was for everyone, the realization of the existence of this gift, and its subsequent acceptance is the driving force to receiving it personally and fulfilling your expectations in life.

To show His ultimate love to us, God first gave us Christ Jesus joyfully; the three wise men who were the first to see Christ Jesus also gave him gifts, and Christ in return gave us Himself in love. People at different times, different occasions and in different situations have been benefiting in this provision, and it is your time to also place a demand and to give someone and to receive the gift. “Then they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, a son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have pity and mercy on me. And many severely censured and reproved him, telling him to keep still, but he kept on shouting out all the more, You Son of David, have pity and mercy on me. And Jesus stopped and said, call him. And they called the blind man, telling him, Take courage, Get up, He is calling you.  And throwing off his outer garment, he leaped up and came to Jesus. And Jesus said to him, what do you want Me to do for you? And the blind man said to Him, Master, let me receive my sight. And Jesus said to him, Go your way; your faith has healed you. And at once he received his sight and accompanied Jesus on the road.” Mark 46-52

Blind Bartimaeus had his time to receive the gift and vowed never to miss out in the opportunity and in the blessing. The bible said despite distractions and condemnations, he refused to back down from his demand but cried the more for his gift of healing. He was not afraid of his environment or anyone in his vicinity; he cried out and received something that changed his life forever. Do not wait until you are disgraced by circumstances; refuse to miss out in this season of great expectation of receiving and giving. Despite your situation right now, seek to give and expect to receive. God will not refuse you even when men deny you. Join in this expectation.
