VICTORY OR DEFEAT, GOOD OR EVIL

In every situation, God is never absent. Where He allows either victory or defeat, He has a purpose to fulfill. Either of these happens to people at different times and they have different purposes to fulfill. In every life and in every situation, there is nothing as sweet as having expected or unexpected victory, and there is nothing as painful as having an unexpected defeat after all efforts to earn a victory. While we should celebrate victory, we should not be ignorant of its demands, and while mourning our defeat, we should not be ignorant of its demands also. In either way, God is not absent in the affairs of those who believe in Him. Jesus Christ called His disciples and gave them something to consider keeping in their mind. He said; “Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are enrolled in heaven.” Luke 10:20

Victory that is earned by upholding the words and teachings of Christ Jesus will bring a lasting liberation, but victory that ignores His ways and teaching are temporal and will bring untold bondage by the devil thereafter. As a Christian, victory or defeat should never be the end to your aspiration in life, greater things are ahead for you. It should never be your end in praying to your God. Every victory demands an action and every defeat demands an action. When you are defeated, never loss hope, never turn back from believing Him, and never refrain from trusting Him. His plans for you are still active and working. Victory or defeat, Christ is most interested in you, in your salvation, and in the preservation of your soul than anything else.

Whether in victory or in defeat, we should endeavor to exalt our Lord Jesus Christ, because only then will we have the security we deserve. We should seek righteousness and godliness in our lives and nation. It is stated in the scripture; “Uprightness and right standing with God (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation) elevate a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. The king’s favor is toward a wise and discreet servant, but his wrath is against him who does shamefully. He who, being often reproved, hardens his neck shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. When the [uncompromisingly] righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked man rules, the people groan and sigh” Proverbs 14:34-35, 29:1-2

We are living in a time that the bible foresaw many years ago. A time where evil is an acceptable way of living, a time where evil tendencies and actions triumphs over good, a time where God and all His ways are relegated to our back rather than on our front, a time where God’s words and teachings are no more regarded as primary to human happiness and hope, a time where human beings expect God to follow and approve their thoughts and ways rather than they following God’s ways and thoughts. The bible rightly explained it this ways; “For people will be lovers of self and utterly self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate greedy desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane. They will be without natural human affection (callous and inhuman), relentless (admitting of no truce or appeasement); they will be slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good. They will be treacherous, betrayers, rash, and inflated with self-conceit. They will be lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God.” 2 Timothy 3:2-4

The situation may be dire, but God is never absent. Hope and trust on men will surely come crashing with time, but hope in Christ will never fail either in victory or in defeat. Christians should know without any iota of doubt that, good will always win over evil and God will vindicate those who trust and call on Him in every nation and in every situation.
