"IF YOUR DESIRES WILL BE GRANTED, THEN ---"

If God would grant the desires, then we must be careful of what we desire. If God would grant your desires now what do you think will happen next? What desires are important to you right now and which ones are not so important? Do you think those desires are right before God? It is not a matter of temporal self-satisfaction; it is a matter of what God wants for you now. Paul in his words to the Philippians gave us a powerful hint of what we should desire. The scripture said of our hearts and our desires, “Rejoice in the Lord always, delight, take pleasure in Him; again I will say, rejoice. Let your gentle spirit, your graciousness, unselfishness, mercy, tolerance, and patience be known to all people. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything, every circumstance and situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your specific requests known to God. And the peace of God, that peace which reassures the heart, that peace which transcends all understanding, that peace which stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus is yours. Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things, center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart. The things which you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things in daily life, and the God who is the source of peace and well-being will be with you.” Philippians 4:4-9

The words of God are true, they are living, they are eternal, they are powerful, they are guaranteed to succeed, they are perfect for every situation and for everyone who will dare to believe and follow them. They are for the generations now and the generation in the future; they address all concerns of our lives, while changing us for the best, they also change all of our situations for the best as promised by our God. “But Jesus told him, no, the Scriptures say, people do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” Matthew 4:4; John 6:63; Isaiah 55:11. God has a plan for you in His words; He has a desire for you in His purpose, and He is able to fulfill all of His promises to everyone. One such promise is that He will grant our heart desires.

Desire is a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen that will change a situation, bring something that will affect us or others positively or otherwise. It is an inner feeling, unverbalized intent and a strong demand in the heart. Some desires are godly while many or are not; some are to for temporal satisfaction, some are for ego boosting, some are for pride, while some are to prove the plans, the will, the desires and the purpose of God. As God had promised to grant the desires of our heart, then we must endeavor to take control of whatever goes through our heart and thoughts at all times. We must endeavor to submit our heart and thoughts and minds fully to the control of the words of God. We must endeavor to do right in all that we will be engaged to do; think right in our hearts; action in ways that are rightly directed by the words of God and bring ourselves fully to God’s presence. If God will grant the desires of the heart, there must be a consistency of our hearts and desires. Know that God will not grant evil, He will not grant the desires that cause harm or subjects others to that which is not right. He is perfect and does that which is good always. He will grant desires that are true, honorable, right, respectful, that which confirms His word, desires which are pure, wholesome, lovely, brings joy and peace, which are admirable, excellence, good repute and worthy of praise.
