“YOUR HAND WOULD BE WITH ME”

(3) That God’s hands will be with Him. Jabez knew the cost of ignorance and did felt the bitter experience of the ignorance of his parents in his own life and never wanted it repeated again in his own time. He knew that temptation will come from the devil, from the people around and from his new environment because of the blessings from God and his new status and fame. He knew that without God’s hands being with, guiding and leading him every day and every time, he will definitely fall, and he never wanted that to happen. He never wanted to take chances.

Remember that whenever, whatever and wherever the Lord blesses you, the devil will bring a temptation to cut you short from enjoying the fullness of that blessing. The devil does not just steal anything from believers; he steals only what the Lord had given to you through numerous temptations, accusations, instigating anger and frequent unholy outburst. You should not be ignorant of all his devises aimed at taking that which God had given to you, (your marriage, your life, your spouses, your health, your children, your salvation, your job and your ability). When believers are no more afraid of sin and its consequence, they will begin to make mistakes that draw them back to what they were before being saved. Jabez was not ready to go back to what he was before through any means, so he asked for God’s hand. A person who had ever experienced the adversity of fire will always be afraid when one is sighted far or near.

When God’s hands are on you, He will take you through every form of adversity, temptation, confrontation, weakness and wickedness. He will take you to great and unimaginable heights in the world in whatever He had asked you to do in any location He decides to place you on earth, when you walk in obedience. David gave us a personal clue of what God will do in, for and with us when His hands are with you; “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:1-6. You cannot beat that.

That was the heart and desires of Jabez when he prayed his desire for a change, a new experience and a new life, expressing his desire not to return to what he was before. That God’s hands will be with Him. He did not want to blow away the blessing; he did not want to be insensitive to whatever will come thereafter and he did not want to take changes. How many believers have blew away the blessings through ignorance, carelessness and insensitivity? How many today are crying for a restoration and how many are ready to pay the price for one?

A child will always desire to see and be glad to feel the father’s hand, the father being on the lead always, holding up spiritually and physically, clearing the path for easy access by removing difficulties and hindrances, such actions eliminates fear and increases assurance and chances of success of that child. That was the pray of Jabez. If God’s hands be with us, all will be well with us, but if not with us, or be against us then there will danger and all forms of misfortune.

When God’s hands are with you, every plan, work and tendencies of evil will be frustrated as they were for Elijah, David and the apostles. Your destination in life and in that which He enables you to do will be assured despite the temptations, delays, denials, frustrations and wickedness. The scripture reminds us; “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep.” Psalm 127:1-2. For Prayer Click here
