Expectations keeps us hopeful, takes us to our knees in prayers, keeps us trusting God and His words; it enables our actions and conversations. Expectations influences our lives in ways that we do not imagine, it swings our mood, making us happy and making us sad; it makes us move, travel, see people, and see things; expectation encourages us and when things turn out as did not expect, we become angry, worried, discourage, frustrated and disappointed. It is impossible to live without expectation irrespective of our religion, faith and wealth. Expectation is part of human living and it is what influences our actions the most.

We have expectations in ourselves in everything we do; some are well spelled out while some are hidden, but there is nothing we will ever be engaged in without expectations. In order to control the expectations, we have to control our hearts, we have to live in faith, walk in faith, trust with faith in God and in His words and in His promises. As we continue in faith, we grow in Him and increase in His words and power, and our expectations become fixed on Him and in His promise and in His words. Our expectations become based on His unfailing words and promises and not on our strength or the promises of men. The more our expectations are on Him, the less we become worried and angry and frustrated, knowing He will definitely help us, He will definitely give us joy, He will definitely change us and change our situations. “Don’t be upset, worried, and angry because of evil people. Don’t be jealous of those who do wrong because like the grass they will soon and quickly dry up and wither. Like green plants, they will soon die, fade away. Trust and have confidence in the Lord and do good. Live, settle in the land and feed on truth. Enjoy serving the Lord and He will give you what you want, the requests of your heart. Depend on and commit your way to the Lord, trust and have confidence in Him, and He will take care of you.” Psalm 37:1-5. Everyone has good expectations for themselves; it is only the wicked that has bad expectations for others, wishes them evil, and plot evil against others. But I am trusting God to take you beyond your good expectations, to take you beyond and over the bad expectations and to plant your feet on solid grounds for His glory.

While men in their best times depending on what they have can provide you with your expressed expectations, God takes you far beyond that expectation whether you express them or not. Did you know that prayers are the expression of our expectations? Despite the discouragement and all the disappointments, despite the delays and the dishonesty of men, keep your mind focused on the expectations from above, trust God for it, pray for it, depend on it, and look forward to it. God is love and He is always faithful, He will take you beyond those expectations by His power and by the transforming working grace in His goodness.

The word of God will never fail irrespective of the resistance from the forces of darkness and the delays caused by our several mistakes and failures in obedience; the people who trust in the Almighty God, who follow His word in truth and rely on Christ Jesus for their victory will not fail even when they fall. As God upholds His words right from the beginning to today, so will He uphold you; as God sustain His words from destruction, so will He sustain you; as God fulfills His words in all generations past, so will He fulfill you in this generation; as God had promised you in His love, as He did to Abraham, Noah, David, and many others, so will He do to you. Our God is more than faithful and He is worthy of all praises. He saved you for His praises on earth and it will be fulfilled. “The Lord says, My thoughts are not like your thoughts. Your ways are not like my ways. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Rain and snow falls from the sky and don’t return without watering the ground. They cause the plants to grow, making seeds for the farmer and bread for the people. The same thing is true of the words I speak. Prayer Request Click here
