“THIS DAY I WILL BEGIN TO EXALT YOU”

Post date: Mar 2, 2016 1:05:08 AM

Your days are not over yet and your time is not past; there is nothing standing to disqualify you in the presence of our Lord, not even past sins and mistakes, weakness, past failure, not the devil or the wicked standing to accuse you daily at work, in your home or family. The Lord is taking you in His arms and is leading you to the place that He will magnify and exalt you. He is doing this before men and not in a hidden place; he is doing this at a time that you never expected and at a time that you may be considering as totally impossible. When tough time comes, when you are faced with difficult situations, remember that your God is still the Lord and able to do what He had said concerning your life. Nothing stops Him and nothing will stop you. Do not give up towards the mark of His excellence in your life and calling.

Though Joshua had been very faithful to Moses and had been following him all the way out from Egypt; though he had shared in the shame and glory of Moses in the past; though Moses had laid his hands on him and commissioned him to continue the journey; though Joshua heard the words that was spoken to him by Moses and understood it meaning; though he did not deviate in any way from following the instructions and the words of God as contained in the scriptures, God did not yet magnify or exalt him before the people, but God had scheduled a day, a time, a place and a situation that He will do just what He had destined to do in the life of Joshua. God waited until the day that Joshua encountered the River Jordan standing to prevent his way, his joy and the movement of the people that he was leading to the place that God had promised. It was at this point that God elevated the hope of Joshua to a definite assurance and demanded to see his faith in his action according to His instructions:

“Then Joshua said to the people, Sanctify yourselves for His purpose, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you. Joshua said to the priests; take up the Ark of the Covenant and cross over the river ahead of the people. So they took up the Ark of the Covenant and went on ahead of the people. The Lord said to Joshua, this day I will begin to magnify and exalt you in the sight of all Israel, so that they may know that just as I was with Moses, I will also be with you. You shall command the priests who carry the Ark of the Covenant, saying, when you come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan. Joshua said to the Israelites, come here, and listen to the words of the Lord your God. Joshua said, by this you shall know that the living God is among you, and that He will, without fail, drive out from before you the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Hivite, the Perizzite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, and the Jebusite. Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over ahead of you leading the way into the Jordan. So now take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one man from each tribe. When the soles of the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, come to rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan flowing down from above will be cut off, and they will stand in one mass of water.” Joshua 3:5-13

Right from that day, when the people saw the way God was doing with Joshua and the waters, all the people change their mind, their thoughts and the words against Joshua. His confidence in leading the people was restored; his joy as a leader was restored; his respect within their camp and in his words to them were restored; and right from that God Joshua never look back again and no one took him for granted again. River Jordan was a natural obstacle to the confidence of Joshua, to the continuous joy of the children of Israel and to the movement to the place that God had promised them; it was a real obstruction that no one can doubt or challenge; but it turned out to be what God intended to use in exalting and magnifying Joshua. God is preparing you to be an encouragement to someone; He is about to show Himself strong in you; to put His hands and presence in the things that concerns you and show you His faithfulness.
