MY FATHER, MY LORD, I AM LOST (3)

“Now I am sending you to the king of Egypt so that you can lead my people out of his country.” That was what God told Moses when he had no new idea for his life; that was the message from God for Moses to take personally from then on; that was the commission given Moses to fullness in the days and years ahead; that was Moses’ next assignment; next job; that was the moment his life took a new turn for the very best. What a joy it will be for you to meet God, to hear God, and to receive peace from Him in times of sorrows, self-pity, fear, and uncertainty; when you are lost of ideas on what next to do, where else to go, and how to go about in living for Him according to His words and demands upon your life. That was what Moses got when he was lost in thoughts and ideas in a time of uncertainty in his life. God met him in the desert, in the wilderness, and on the holy mountain where he had gone not to pray, but to feed the sheep of his master Jethro.

When God met with Moses on that Holy Mountain, God did not sympathize with his situation even though he was not having a comfortable life; he did not say ask Moses any question about his master Jethro who was not a Jew or his former boss Pharaoh the Egyptian or his own life and activities in the desert. God did not tell Moses I have come because you are lost in thoughts or ideas; because you are being punished or suffering for the sins or mistakes in your life, or say to him I have come because you have been praying and asking me questions concerning your future, God gave him the direct reason for His visitation that moment – “I have seen how cruelly my people are being treated in Egypt, I have heard them cry out to be rescued from their slave drivers. I know all about their sufferings, and so I have come down to rescue them from the Egyptians and to bring them out of Egypt to a spacious land, one which is rich and fertile and in which the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites now live. I have indeed heard the cry of my people and I see how the Egyptians are oppressing them.” Exodus 3:7-9. It was the children of Israel who cried to God for freedom from their evil taskmasters and cruelty in Egypt and God did not answer them directly, but He went to Moses in the desert, when he was alone, confused and wondering and told him in his moment of confusion and lost -- Now I am sending you to the king of Egypt so that you can lead my people out of his country. – Exodus 3:10. God did not tell him I will send you in the future, but told him now.

I pray God will meet you now; I pray you will come to the moment of Now with your God, not the moment of tomorrow or the moment in the future, but the moment of now. Though Moses, looking at where he was in life, looking at himself in physical and mental strength, looking at his situation in the past forty years, understanding his level of knowledge, of communication, and his speech impairment; knowing the strength of Pharaoh and the resilience and knowledge of the children of Israel and their respective ability to contend with him, he tried to resist the call and the offer with excuses, but his excuses were instantly rebuffed and refused by God.

“But Moses said to God, I am nobody. How can I go to the king and bring the Israelite's out of Egypt? God answered, I will be with you, and when you bring the people out of Egypt, you will worship me on this mountain. That will be the proof that I have sent you. But Moses replied when I go to the Israelite's and say to them, the God of your ancestors sent me to you, they will ask me, what is His name? So what can I tell them? God said I am who I am. You must tell them the one who is called I am has sent me to you. Tell the Israelite's that I, the Lord, the God of their ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, have sent you to them. This is my name forever, this is what all future generations are to call me.” Exodus 3:10-14

I pray God not to accept any excuse that will hinder your future in Him; I pray no excuse will take you away, keep you out or prevent you in this life from being what God desires and planned for your life. The God who met Moses in that desert will meet you where you are now. For prayers, Click here
