“JOSEPH’S TWO BIG DREAMS”

Post date: Jan 16, 2017 12:51:05 AM

“Now Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brothers, and they hated him even more. He said to them, please listen to the details of this dream which I have dreamed; we brothers were binding sheaves of grain stalks in the field, and lo, my sheaf suddenly got up and stood upright and remained standing; and behold, your sheaves stood all around my sheaf and bowed down in respect. His brothers said to him, are you actually going to reign over us? Are you really going to rule and govern us as your subjects? So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words. But Joseph dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers as well. He said, see here, I have again dreamed a dream, and lo, this time I saw eleven stars and the sun and the moon bowed down in respect to me. He told it to his father as well as to his brothers; but his father rebuked him and said to him in disbelief, what is the meaning of this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and your brothers actually come to bow down to the ground in respect before you? Joseph’s brothers were envious and jealous of him, but his father kept the words of Joseph in mind wondering about their meaning.” Genesis 37:5-11

Joseph showed what he was destined to be in life by his two dreams; he showed what God had planned, purposed, and desired for him in life by his dreams; he showed his future destiny by his dreams, and he showed his acceptance and agreement to God’s plans by sharing the dreams with his parents and brothers not minding what they say to him, what they will think of him, and what they will do to him. Their thoughts, their actions, and their words were not as relevant to Joseph as what God had said to him, had revealed to him and had promised for his life. The thoughts of men, their words about you, their plans against you, and their scheduled actions to prevent you are irrelevant when compared to what God had planned, had shown, had revealed, and desired for your life if you will agree and accept them. Joseph did not negotiate with God for the dream but God gave them to him and it does not matter what people will ever do against them. That should be a lesson for all of us today; refuse to be afraid of what people will say to your dreams, the words of God is stronger than the words of men; refuse to be cowed by their unfounded fears and uncertainties, God can break every barrier; refused to give up hope in His ability, if men refuse to help you, God will not refuse because He planned them and will fulfill them; refuse to think the way others are thinking about your dreams, think as God had revealed, think as shown by God, and think as God had planned for you. Remember, if they were not possible, God will not show them, and if they were not real, God would not have told you.

Joseph was seventeen when God gave him the two big dreams that he will rule over his family and will reign over them; that they will bow to him in reverence and in respect, and at seventeen, you valued the dreams and kept them; at seventeen he desired the dream and believed them; at seventeen, he respected the God who gave them to him and did all to earn them. His dreams did not go well with the family members; his brothers became angry with him and envied him the more, while his father wondered how he would reign over them and how that will ever happen knowing the tradition of his people and the structure of the family. Do not hold God captive by your tradition, He is far bigger; do not hold captive by your small mind, He is far bigger; do not hold captive by the wickedness of the people around you, He will always do you good. Joseph went through horrible things in life, but he never compromised the desire for the dreams he had; he never changed his mind concerning the values of his own dreams or the dreams of others; he never play down the importance of having a dream; even when he was in prison, he still believed in having dreams and still respects God’s intent and the meaning of dreams. Because he still believed in dreams despite his imprisonment, the dream another person took him out from prison to a place that his own dream will be fulfilled. Please dream big.
