"MISTAKES THAT CAUSES SETBACK'

Post date: Mar 20, 2017 1:31:04 AM

“Then Jesus began to tell them that the Son of Man must suffer many terrible things and be rejected by the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but three days later he would rise from the dead. As he talked about this openly with his disciples, Peter took him aside and began to reprimand him for saying such things. Jesus turned around and looked at his disciples, then reprimanded Peter. Get away from me Satan, he said. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s. Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, if any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” Mark 8:31-38

Even in things that Peter did not quite know and did not have a proper understanding beside what he had read and had been told, he stood before the people and other disciples to reprimand our Lord Jesus Christ on His words. Though Peter thought what he knew was right, he did not know it was Satan trying to setting him up for a setback to his desires and dreams and what God had planned and intended for him in life. He stood up and expressed his then limited knowledge and understanding in divine matters with the insight and the knowledge and understanding of Jesus Christ. Thank God Christ Jesus corrected him instantly and openly before the people who were there and also delivered him from the hands of Satan who had taken hold of him, and Peter also accepted the rebuke and correction immediately and kept himself still in the company of Christ.

What is unknown to most people is that the mistakes that cause setbacks are very common to come by and to be involved in today’s world, and Christians should be aware and very careful in the ways they live, relate and act in every circumstance that will ever confront them. Satan is set to repeat the same thing again in various ways; the onslaught is real and the society of today is quite open, no one can restrict it except yourself through diligence and grace in Jesus Christ as Peter did in his time. Satan is using everything he could to lay his hands on Christians and to put something in their mines on to as they will commit this mistake and live the rest of their lives in regret, sorrows, and pains despite their faith because of the consequences of the mistakes. It is evident that except the Lord Jesus Christ keeps us saved through our desires to remain in Him and with Him and close to Him at all times, we will all fall into this mistake. The power of this kind of mistake are enormous; it has the power to bring down and ruin dynasties; destroy dreams and desires; weaken our best efforts and our effectiveness even in things we know well enough not to make a mistake; it stops us at the point of breakthrough, recognition, and celebration.

Mistakes that cause setbacks are what Satan uses effectively to afflict individuals and families in various ways from generation to another. It always seeks to repeat itself in the family from year to year. It is an effective tool that causes unwanted result in every area of living despite our dreams and efforts. Satan holds us down because of our past; hinders us because we went astray, causes pains and weakness because we went off track; hurts us because we were involved; uses us because we made ourselves available at that time, and desires us to be with that mistake the rest of our lives. That is contrary to God’s desires, contrary to His plans, contrary to His purpose and it is completely not acceptable in His presence. God deliver me today, help me never to continue in those mistakes or commit new ones again. As you helped Peter in his day of testing; You restored him to your plans and purpose for his life, do the same for me today. For Prayers Click here
