“Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn. So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, Moses, Moses and he said, here I am. Then He said, do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground. Moreover, He said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God. And the Lord said: I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. Now, therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:1-10

The beginning of Moses’s life was that of trouble and in all of his troubles, God was there to help him, God was there to deliver him, God was there to rescue him, and God was there to make a way for him. Despite all of his troubles, Moses never lacks help from God and God never fails to show him His love and take him on a better route. We can recall that at birth, Moses had trouble and God defended him and saved him, that trouble brought Moses to the house of Pharaoh as a son and heir to the throne even though he was an Israelite by birth; in the house of Pharaoh, Moses had another trouble which made him run to the priest of Midian Jethro to save his life; there he began serving Jethro and later married one of his daughters and became his in-law. Moses was faithful wherever he went and was serving with all of his heart and might. On one of his duty post, Moses saw a spectacular fire that attracted his curiosity and decided to draw near and see and perhaps have a better understanding and explanation to give to himself. Unknown to Moses, on that faithfulness day, while tending the sheep of Jethro on Mount Horeb, God was there to meet him, to rescue him, to restore him and to use him. Like Moses, God will meet you in that uncomfortable place that you are right now, He will rescue you from the lack of direction and ideas, He will restore you to His path, and He will use you the way He had intended for you in His destiny plan for your life before you were conceived in your mother’s womb.

Moses had great hopes when he was in the house of Pharaoh; he had great future just being the adopted son of the most powerful man then; he had all provisions available as the apparent heir in Egypt, he had all the comforts he desired at his disposal and all the power he needed to acquire one, but when the incident of killing an Egyptian was made public and to the dismay of the Pharaoh, Moses life was in danger and he fled the house of Pharaoh to the house of Jethro to avoid being killed, but God was there to help him. In the house of Jethro, Moses had no hope, no idea of what next to do than just looking after and caring for the sheep; he had no idea of what the future will be for him, no idea of how his whole life will unfold, no idea if God will still help him again and no idea if he will never see better days again. But despite having no idea of what to do and what was ahead for him in life, the Lord God Almighty showed up in a miraculous way and called him by name with a promise to use him to fulfill the promise He gave to Abraham and to the children of Israel.
