“I AM WAITING ON YOU OH LORD”

Waiting is the second most difficult thing to do by all Christian who believes God in prayers. If you have been following Christ Jesus for a while and you are an active church or fellowship member you may have heard from other believers within the church or group that waiting on God on any issue in life is the best option for Christians in every situation. You may have been told personally by your Christian friends, pastors, and relatives several times over to wait on the Lord after praying on that issue; you may have heard wait for the appointed time; wait for the right season; wait for the right life partner; wait for the right job offer; wait for the time that God will open the door; wait and God will make it good for you. Waiting on God is easy to say than keep when the affliction is raging harder; when the challenge from the situation is increased; when age is taking its toll on you; when the doors are closing fast on you; when opportunities are passing you; you are constantly abused and humiliated by everyone; when your none believing friends and age mates are constantly celebrating their achievement on the same thing you are still praying and waiting on God for; when you are always invited every week for something; when your juniors in the profession and office are fast bossing over you, and when the devil is busy reminding you of what you have lost, what you have missed and what you will never get.

Waiting on the Lord might be very painful when you know the result you desire might take days, months or even years to come; it is undesirable when you know the result may differ completely from your prayers and expectations; when you know it might require certain actions that you may not be comfortable with or require your complete obedience to certain instructions. It is in the period of waiting on the Lord after prayers that the devil speaks loudest; people call us names; look down on us; regard us as fools and sick; at this time you feel the clock is running faster than usual, everyone seem to be against you; parents, friends, and colleagues calling you aside to ask some serious questions concerning your life and the things you are waiting on God for; this is the time the devil brings viable alternatives and ideas to make you look foolish, cheated and change your mind. It is when we are waiting on the Lord to answer our prayers that our heart and feelings are overwhelmed with self-pity.

Please note that it is not easy to wait for answer prayers, but it is very possible and recommended; though it is easier said but when one is running out of time and people measuring you with others in the same neighborhood, with college mates and family members. It is at this period of waiting on the Lord that our faith, patience, endurance, trust, belief, and obedience are challenged, tested, tried and stretched to the very max; this is when our level of anger is raised, and when the answer is too long to come, we give up faith and accept defeat by following the devil’s alternatives before our expected answer arrives. The devil’s alternative is attractive but not real as God would want for you and it is always laced with sin and punishment for our soul later. It is not as easy as we think and as we often say when it comes to waiting on the Lord; but despite what everyone will ever do and say, it pays to always wait on the Lord and keep your trust in Him alone. Waiting on the Lord is sweet when you know God will not fail to fulfill His words. David wrote an encouraging message for us to wait on the Lord. “Do not hide Your face from me, do not turn Your servant away in anger; you have been my help; do not abandon me nor leave me, O God of my salvation. Although my father and my mother have abandoned me, yet the Lord will take me up. Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. Do not give me up to the will of my adversaries, for false witnesses have come against me; they breathe out violence. I would have despaired had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait for and confidently expect the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for and confidently expect the Lord. Psalm 27:9-14. Click here for prayer
