THAT I BE FREE FROM PAIN, DEAR LORD

Post date: Sep 20, 2013 3:18:28 AM

“Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my territory. Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” 1 Chronicle 4:10.NIV. These four evils always associated and complimenting each other, wherever one is present, the others will be there and together, they affect humanity negatively. These are harm, pain, sorrow and anger. God’s desire for you is a lively and active free spirit all season long, the spirit that will glorify Him on earth through you and your daily activities. With such a spirit you will never look back in regret, but will always look up and forward with a mouth filled with praise and a joyful heart. With such a spirit you will never feel or think anything bad against yourself or anyone else, your world will be better, your speech will be seasoned with the salt God’s goodness and praise, and everything you do will be blessed. But where anyone suffers any of the four things above, everything about and around you will be affected.

Pains of any magnitude will always be uncomfortable, unwelcomed and undesirable. It can result to severe sadness if not properly handled, causing physical and spiritual depression of the mind, the spirit and the flesh. Every form of pain is not from God because the blessings from above do not come with sorrow, but with peace, resulting in a sound mind of praise and godly happiness. Pain is an evil from the devil targeted at reducing or stopping your mobility, thoughts, your dreams, visions and your overall desires in life.

The world is surrounded with people who are suffering from various degrees of pains in their lives. Different people suffer different types and levels of pains, but the results are similar. Some have spiritual pains, and some have physical pains, but Jabez prayer was that God alone will keep him all forms of pains as he transits from his old life of sorrows and anger to his new life of enjoying the blessings and the goodness of God which eluded his parents.

It is painful to see yourself not being able to do anything meaningful in life despite prayers and other spiritual and physical efforts. There is pain in not being able to do what you know you have been adequately trained, properly endowed by God and physically prepared to do. There is pain in having a certificate and not being able to use it for any benefit. There is pain in having adequate knowledge and not being able to translate it into something profitable. There is pain in always blowing up opportunity. There is pain in spending years looking for a spouse when you are ready for marriage. There is pain waiting longer than necessary for children after several years of marriage. There is pain in having no money when you earn so much. There is pain in losing a loved one, there is pain in divorce, there is pain in being unemployed, homeless, hungry. There is pain when your best is not effective enough in producing your expectation. There is pain when one falls into an unexpected trouble in life. There is nothing as killing as working in any form of concealed pain. Pain kills from the inside, keeps you bitter finside, destroys your ability to reason properly from the inside, reduces your ability to pursue your dreams and visions despite the desires before finally killing you on the outside.

We know that God is and will always be compassionate to every one of us, but I am not asking God to only sympathize with you in your pains, I am asking Him to deliver you. God is willing to help you through, He is willing to deliver you, and to prevent it from destroyed you. “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” Hebrew 4:14-16.
