"WHY ARE MANY BELIEVERS DEPRESSED OH LORD? (2)"

Post date: Jan 11, 2019 4:49:43 AM

Christians are people with faith in Christ Jesus; people with absolute hope in the fulfillment of God’s word and promises; people with great expectations for better things and better days even in times of adversities; people with trust in the power of God for miracles, people with a strong godly minds and desires, and they are people with convincing assurance that God is absolutely faithful, truthful, dependable and worthy to be followed. It is good to note that people without expectations are not depressed, but there is no one living today without expectation, without a desire, without a purpose, without a plan, and without hope, genuine or not, true or false and whether they believe in their expectation or not. But Christians are strong believers in their God and in their expectations from God and of themselves. It will interest you to know that God is still working to perfect His words in the hearts of men and to fulfill all of His promises to everyone who believes and calls on Him in faith. And the devil is working to stop us from being what God said thereby causing our being depressed and the feeling of rejection.

Depression is much more than being or feeling discouraged or disappointed; it has a much more adverse effect to everyone in everything in and around us, and it is the work of the devil to keep us feeling extremely bad about our God, about others and about ourselves in the things we expect and do for and in our lives. When expectation fails, when the answer to prayers are delayed for too long, when our enemies are becoming stronger than we know and are progressing rapidly even in sin and wickedness, when our efforts are not producing the results we expect, and when we see ourselves always at the wrong side of life and of things. When we become the victims of shame in every situation and our dreams and desires are too far from us. When what we expect and how we expect them to be are not coming that way. When our children are not where they should be and the unbelievers are making strides alongside their children and spouses in everything. When our best efforts seem we have not even started and when the devil laughs at us publicly. When disappointment and shame overwhelm us daily and there is no place to run to, no better thing to do next, no one to comfort us with a workable solution, no one to show us the right direction to take in our moments of decisions, and when our hearts are filled with grieves and pains. When loneliness and isolation takes our hearts away from the comforts of the Holy Spirit and the word of God in that situation, when barrenness and childlessness deprives us of trusting God, when lack of success and often failures are our main concern and the fear of remaining in the receiving end of all evil is strong on every side we turn, we are then forced to feel depressed.

But there is hope and assurance in every situation for everyone who believes in Jesus Christ and in His words and leadership as Lord not to give in to the feelings of depression and the spirits and things causing disappointments, discouragements, and failures. “Therefore if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above, not on things that are on the earth which have only temporal value. For you died and your new life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. So put to death and deprive of power the evil longings of your earthly body with its sensual, self-centered instincts, immorality, impurity, sinful passion, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry because it replaces your devotion to God. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience, those who fail to listen and who routinely and obstinately disregard God’s precepts, and in these, you also once walked, when you were living in them. But now rid yourselves of all these things: anger, rage, malice, slander, and obscene language from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old self with its evil practices.” Colossians 3:1-9. Here is a word that gives victory. Prayer Request Click here
