“One time Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him even more. Joseph said, listen to the dream I had. We were in the field tying bundles of wheat together. My bundle rose and stood upright, and your bundles of wheat gathered around it and bowed down to it. His brothers said, do you really think you will be king over us? Do you truly think you will rule over us? His brothers hated him even more because of his dreams and what he had said. Then Joseph had another dream, and he told his brothers about it also. He said, listen, I had another dream. I saw the sun, moon, and eleven stars bowing down to me. Joseph also told his father about this dream, but his father scolded him, saying, what kind of dream is this? Do you really believe that your mother, your brothers, and I will bow down to you? Genesis 37:5-10

And the dreams of Joseph came to pass when God remembered him while suffering persecution in the prison. The dream that made his brothers hate him was fulfilled; the dreams that resulted to his being sold into slavery was fulfilled; the dreams that separated him from his family were fulfilled; the dreams that made his life bitter was fulfilled. But despite what Joseph went through physically, mentally and spiritually in life, God did not forget His plans for his life and God did not forget that He has a destiny set aside for him to fulfill. Though his brothers hated him for his dream, God did not hate him for sharing the dream with them, though his brothers misunderstood the dreams, God did not miss the details of the dream, though his father could not imagine such happening to him and his mother and senior brothers, God understood His plans and the ways it will happen. The actions of Joseph’s brothers took him to a foreign land, but there also God was with him. Joseph’s desire and determination to remain faithful and obedient to God, refusing to commit adultery and to follow enticing offers of sin brought took him to the prison, but God was still with him even in that prison confinement and God never forget the promise and the words of those dreams He gave to Joseph and at the appointed time and in the appointed place and before the right audience, God manifested His grace and Joseph’s dreams were confirmed immediately.

Before God fulfilled Joseph’s dreams, He allowed him to be tested, tempted, and persecuted, yet despite all these things God never took His eyes away from him and from his destiny. Though Joseph did not know the fullness of God’s plans for his life and how his dreams will be fulfilled, all he knew and saw of himself was a boy in slavery, and an innocent prisoner, yet Joseph did remain faithful to God until the day that God remembered him and activated the grace and the power of His plans for him to be fulfilled and the dream is manifested in his life.

“After the brothers of Joseph saw that their father had died, Joseph’s brothers said, what if Joseph is still angry with, holds a grudge against us? We did many wrong things to him. What if he plans to pay us back? So they sent a message to Joseph that said, your father gave this command before he died. He said to us, you have done wrong and have sinned and done evil to Joseph. Tell Joseph to forgive you, his brothers. So now, Joseph, we beg you to forgive our wrong. We are the servants of the God of your father. When Joseph received the message, he cried. And his brothers went to him and bowed low before him and said, we are your slaves. Then Joseph said to them, don’t be afraid. Can I do what only God can do, am I in the place of God? You meant to hurt, and evil against me, but God turned your evil into good to save the lives of many people, which is being done. So don’t be afraid. I will take care of you and your children. So Joseph comforted, consoled and reassured his brothers and spoke kind words to them.” Genesis 50:15-21. When we remain faithful to God, when we do all within our power to remain in His love, to remain committed to His words and ways, God will remember us, He will reward us, He will restore us, He will open new doors and ways for us, He will comfort us, and He will confirm and fulfill all His plans for us lives.
