ONE GOOD NEWS FROM SODOM AND GOMORRAH

Everyone, mostly Christians have heard the horrible news about Sodom and Gomorrah, what the people did individually and collectively against themselves and against the clear word of God by following the cravings of their desires and thoughts of pleasures rather than follow the words and instructions of God; we read of their actions in the Holy Bible and recently, archeologists and historians had proved those biblical realities to be true; confirmed those cities actually existed, and that the people did what the bible had said they did. We have read how they gave themselves to practice homosexuality, sodomy, gang rape, repulsive and abusive to every moral corrections of Lot or anyone else, how they showed indifference to the things that promote moral excellence and godliness, how they treated their own children and visitors, how they gave themselves to weird characters and practiced bestiality even in the open without regards to anyone irrespective of age and gender.

Sodom and Gomorrah was a place that corrupts every person of good will who enters it for any reason; it was a place that promotes immorality to the highest level paying no attention to the physical and spiritual repercussion of such actions, it was a place that was notorious for its acts and known by everyone far and near; it was a place given to the worst of human thoughts and actions on sexual desires. But despite the bad news, despite the heinous crimes, despite the hatred and despite all other atrocities in that place, God did not forget the presence of one man who was still righteous despite living within the wicked city. This righteous man refused to give up his righteousness for any reason forwarded by the people; refused to give up his walk with God for the pleasure of sexual immorality and God had to visit and rescue this man and his immediate family. God was willing to spare the city if there were at least ten righteous men when Abraham pleaded. God did not but spared Lot for his righteousness. Lot was still righteous despite living in Sodom and Gomorrah and God delivered him; that same God will deliver you also if you will remain in Him continually.

“And there came two angels to Sodom at even, and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; and he said, behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, nay; but we will abide in the street all night. And he pressed upon them greatly, and they turned in unto him and entered into his house, and he made them a feast and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat. But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: and they called unto Lot, and said unto him, where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, and said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. And they said, stand back. And they said again, this one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will need be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut the door. And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door. And the men said unto Lot, hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: For we will destroy this place because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.” Genesis 19:1-13.
