Mephibosheth thought he had lost all; thought he will never recover or regain anything; thought his family wealth is gone forever and thought he will never be anything again in his entire life. All he was struggling to do then was just survive, being crippled at age five and having no family inheritance to defend. But he never knew, never thought, and never imagined that God as making a way for him to be remembered for the god acts and covenant of his father; he never knew that the divine plan of God for his life was about to unfold until the day he knew king David has sent for him, until the moment he saw king David welcome him into the palace, and heard king David say to him --- Don’t be afraid David said, I intend to show kindness to you

Mephibosheth stood before David with unsettling fears, not knowing at that moment that God was about to grant him the kindness he never requests; the kindness he never fought for; the kindness that will make him forget his disabilities. That kindness brought restoration to Mephibosheth physically; it brought him out from the shame of being crippled and dependant; it gave him a secured place on the table with great kings; it restored the properties of his grandfather to him though his father died young leaving no inheritance for him. It guaranteed him choice meals, constant supplies of all needs, and people to work his farm the rest of his life, it re-established his family name, his family properties, and his inheritance. That is what divine kindness can do.

There are things you have lost and think you will never regain, but you will recover and regain them again; there are dreams that you have tried so much to fulfill but the more you struggle for it, the more they seem impossible to you, but God said, you will have them by reason of His divine kindness you are going to begin receiving; there are many precious things you have prayed for, waited, and expected like Zechariah and Elizabeth the parents of John the Baptist did, and until this moment you do or cannot have, but God said He is bringing you into divine kindness that will unlock close those doors, open again those shut and missed opportunities, and lead you to the place of plenty, place of fulfillment and place of joy with full health, and strength.

“One day David asked, is anyone in Saul’s family still alive, anyone to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake? He summoned a man named Ziba, who had been one of Saul’s servants. Are you Ziba? the king asked. Yes sir, I am, Ziba replied. The king then asked him, is anyone still alive from Saul’s family? If so, I want to show God’s kindness to them. Ziba replied, yes, one of Jonathan’s sons is still alive. He is crippled in both feet. Where is he? the king asked. In Lo-debar, Ziba told him, at the home of Makir son of Ammiel. So David sent for him and brought him from Makir’s home. His name was Mephibosheth; he was Jonathan’s son and Saul’s grandson. When he came to David, he bowed low to the ground in deep respect. David said, greetings, Mephibosheth. Mephibosheth replied I am your servant. Don’t be afraid David said. I intend to show kindness to you because of my promise to your father, Jonathan. I will give you all the property that once belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will eat here with me at the king’s table. Mephibosheth bowed respectfully and exclaimed, who is your servant that you should show such kindness to a dead dog like me? Then the king summoned Saul’s servant Ziba and said, I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family. You and your sons and servants are to farm the land for him to produce food for your master’s household. But Mephibosheth, your master’s grandson, will eat here at my table. Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. Ziba replied, yes, my lord the king; I am your servant, and I will do all that you have commanded. And from that time on, Mephibosheth ate regularly at David’s table, like one of the king’s own sons. Mephibosheth had a young son named Mica. From then on, all the members of Ziba’s household were Mephibosheth’s servants. And Mephibosheth, who was crippled in both feet, lived in Jerusalem and ate regularly at the king’s table. 2 Samuel 9:1-12 For prayers, Click here
