NO, GOD HAS NOT

No, despite the questions in your heart and that on your lips concerning yourself, your children, your job, and your possession; despite the bad feelings of fear and shame, the troubles, the lacks and the frustrations; despite the limitless loneliness by day and by night; despite the feelings or actual neglects by friends and family; despite that prolonged money consuming health problems, despite the barrenness and the continuous evil confrontations, God will never forsake those He had called His own irrespective of the number of years their trouble has taken  and the kind of shameful words men has used to describe them because of their situations.

God did not forsake Adam and Eve because they had sinned and were naked; He went down to meet them and gave them coverage for their nakedness with a promise to adequately deal with sin through the sacrifice of the blood of Jesus Christ. God did not forsake Noah inside the ark during and after the flood. God did not forsake Abraham and Sarah because it was taking long for Sarah to conceive a child as promised. Christ Jesus did not exclude Thomas from seeing Him after the resurrection though he doubted about the news of His resurrection.

“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? As the Scriptures say, For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep. No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow, not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below, indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:35-39

It is very common to hear Christians cry loud with the question “has God forsaken me”? These statement is only an assumption when many things begin to go wrong in their physical lives, when answer to prayers are not received as soon as expected, when the physical manifestation of their best dreams are unnecessarily prolonged, uncomfortably delayed, intentionally hindered, when they have diligently prayed and fasted, and when they have expended all their efforts and resource to make things work for them.

They ask this question when sustaining jobs are lost, when they experience a prolonged illness; when they are unable to meet up with basic needs in life, when none of their best aspirations are achieved, when the enemies of their soul are stirring right into their eyes and taking unhindered advantage and control over them. When their marriage is in trouble waters and their children are out of control and not meeting expectations; when answers to prayer for a spouse are not coming as fast as expected, and after waiting unnecessarily longer than others.

They also ask this question when their Christ-like efforts and morals are being rubbished by unbelieving friends and colleagues around, putting them to open shame for their beliefs. Nothing under the heaven and in heaven will ever make God to forsake His children. Do not blame yourself wrongly, do not go out of the ways of Christ Jesus, God has not forsaken you.

Suicide is never a solution and will never be an option; indulgence in sin, divorce and separation are never a solution; hiding away from people will never do you any good, it only increase your days of frustrations, encouraging you to take unscriptural decisions. Anger with self is never a good path to take. Continuous self-condemnation and regrets are a self-imposed danger to avoid. In whatever situation, remember, God has not forsaken you and will not allow your flesh to be famished indefinitely. For prayers, Click here
