“Then they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar, Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting beside the road as was his custom. When Bartimaeus heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout and say, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me. Many sternly rebuked him, telling him to keep still and be quiet; but he kept on shouting out all the more, Son of David, have mercy on me. Jesus stopped and said, call him. So they called the blind man, telling him, Take courage, get up. He is calling for you. Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped up and came to Jesus. And Jesus said, what do you want Me to do for you? The blind man said to Him, Rabboni, my Master, let me regain my sight. Jesus said to him, Go; your faith and confident trust in My power has made you well. Immediately he regained his sight and began following Jesus on the road.” Mark 10:46-52

This man knew something big inside of himself that we do not know; though he did not express them in words, he did express them in action; though he was born blind, he was not born deaf, though he was born with a disability, he desired to overcome that disability; he lost the power of sight, he did not lose the power of his instincts, they were very active and he made proper use of those instincts at this crucial moment in his life when Jesus Christ was passing where he usually sit every day begging arms. That instinct gave him an insight that a miracle is quite possible if he asks with all his strength and not give in to any human intimidation; he must have had many moving stories from people about Jesus Christ; he must have heard Christ was passing that way that same day and he prepared himself to shout not minding what people will say to him.

That same Jesus Christ is our Lord, our savior and our healer today. Instant miracle is possible today as it was them because the same God who did instant miracles in the past is still the one we serve, worship and call on today; and above all the indwelling of His Spirit in us gives us access to His throne through the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus Christ. Though God is not waiting until we cry before answering us, there is absolutely nothing wrong to cry out loud to God for help in everything, instead relying on crumbs from men as food that only satisfies in a short period of time. I do not what you have lost in life, this man lost his eyes and all power of vision; I do not know how long it had been, this lost this power of vision from birth; I know it had been painful and you want it back, it was painful for this man and he wanted his eyes to be fully restored and thank God he met the one who was able to do it and took full advantage of that day and that meeting by asking, crying and shouting with all of his strength.

Let us learn some lesson from this blind man. He usually begs and receives arms for a living but he had never cried for arms from anyone before; he knew he was born blind but did not beg any human being to restore his sight ever. When he knew Jesus Christ was within a distance that can hear his voice, he cried to Him to restore his sight not to receive arms as was his usual activities daily. We should know what to take to God and what to take to man. This knowledge will help us, will bless our lives, will give us peace, assurance, and direction of what to expect now and in the future. No one rebuked him when he was begging people for arms and no one seek to stop him; but immediately he started crying for the restoration of his eyes, he was asked to be silent; he was asked to accept his situation and to remain in his situation. Though he was born blind but he was not born deaf; though he could not see yet he was able to know that Jesus Christ was close to him; though he could not recognize anything around yet he was able to know that Christ Jesus can completely restore his sight, will hear his voice, will have mercy on him irrespective of the sins, will answer him in love and not in hate, will change his situation, will restore his eyes, his sight, his confidence in living and will bless him by enabling him to see and walk along with Him. He immediately regained his sights thereafter. You will regain what you have lost in life in Jesus name. Click here for prayer
