SPEAK LORD, I WILL OBEY

God’s instructions are for everyone to know but the decision to follow is entirely personal. In his time of famine, Isaac accepted the word of God and did what he was asked to do, he was not compelled to, but he knew the reward of doing what God said and did it. After accepting to be a Christian and to follow Christ Jesus as your only Lord and savior, whom have you decided to obey in your life from now on? Whose words will you follow despite the many evidences at your fingertips on the subject you are considering? Is it your thoughts, imaginations, wisdom, intelligence and knowledge, or is it men’s enormous wealth of researched wisdom, unquestioned scientific evidences, or is it God unfailing words? The choice of what you follow is absolutely yours and you will be held accountable for your decisions. Remember, every action you take, small or great, in every situation has a consequences that follows.

It is better to carry the consequence of a temporal pain of obedience than to carry the permanent scars, pains, regrets, cries and sorrows of disobedience to the instructions of God. Unfortunately, many Christians today are living in the realm of the consequences of the sorrows and regrets of their previous disobedience to the words of God. Mistakes and its consequence are never realize before but after an act had been committed and unfortunately, many mistakes cannot be reversed after they have been made, but God in His mercy does forgive our past, by giving us the grace to correct ourselves by doing what is right and acceptable now.

God’s instructions are never meant at punishing anyone, depriving anyone of his or her comfort and keeping anyone from achieving the very best in his or her life. Far from what people say and think, God’s instructions are fashioned to take away your later regrets, frustrations, failures, and endless wondering in life. Giving you the peace you desire and the success you deserve in all the things you give your strength to doing in life.

The reward of complete obedience to God’s instructions far outweighs the very best of any individual and cooperate efforts;outweighs all forms of human helps and assistance; outweighs all good thins in human connections, gifts and rewards received, outweighs and any other sacrifice we might want to offer to God and to man. It is only through obedience that the windows and doors of God’s promised blessing are opened and kept open permanently for you to have the promises fulfilled. Obedience also ensures that the blessings are sustained through grace.

The blessings of obedience ensured that Isaac overcame the famine in the land despite the efforts of others to destroy his work. One of the greatest losers in the bible was King Saul. He lost everything that was given and promised by God. “Samuel said; has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and household good luck images. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king. And Saul said to Samuel, I have sinned; for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. Now, I pray you, pardon my sin and go back with me, that I may worship the Lord. And Samuel said to Saul, I will not return with you; for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel. And as Samuel turned to go away, Saul seized the skirt of Samuel’s mantle, and it tore. And Samuel said to him, The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you this day and has given it to a neighbor of yours who is better than you. And also the Strength of Israel will not lie or repent; for He is not a man that He should repent.” 1 Samuel 15:22-29.
