IN VIEW OF ALL THIS, I AM DETERMINED (1)

“Joshua, no one will be able to defeat you as long as you live. I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will always be with you; I will never abandon you. Be determined and confident, for you will be the leader of these people as they occupy this land which I promised their ancestors. Just be determined, be confident; and make sure that you obey the whole Law that my servant Moses gave you. Do not neglect any part of it and you will succeed wherever you go. Be sure that the book of the Law is always read in your worship. Study it day and night, and make sure that you obey everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Remember that I have commanded you to be determined and confident. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for I, the Lord your God, am with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:5-9

The difference between your success and failure may be in your level of determination to stand up to the things of God, and the words of God; the level of your determination to move forward despite the opposition and resistance; your determination to overcome this mounting obstacle; your determination to be focused on Christ Jesus and His promises rather than the afflictions, pains, what people are saying or doing to you for believing and following Christ Jesus. Your determination can take you beyond the highest mountains, beyond the depts of the valleys, across the length and breadth of the massive ocean, and beyond all the evil intent of Satan.

In view of all of this, I am determined to live for Christ Jesus; I am determined to continue in His words and in His faithfulness; I am determined to trust in Him even more; I am determined to focus on the future rather than the present or past afflictions; I am determined to continue supporting the church and the work of God. I am not giving up, I am not going back, I am not closing my eyes and my ears to the cries of the afflicted Christians. I am not abandoning prayers and fasting. I am not ending my relationship with Christ Jesus and the church of God, and I am not giving up on the virtue of Christianity.

Determination is a character to be desired and strongly cultivated; besides other benefits, it will give you physically, mentally, and spiritual strength; it gives you hope beyond the present events and issues, it builds your capability to do things, and shows you the power of faith and faithfulness in God. Determination will give you a career that education alone will not give you; it can launch into a future that is bigger than your dreams and your qualifications; it can open doors that had been closed to your parents and to others in that same profession for you; it can open the prison doors and set captives free; it can advance you beyond all of your competitors; it can give you a hope that will not die even in times of cruel challenges; it can give you an incredible success and breakthrough that will last for years; it can keep you going and never quitting; it can keep alive and strong enough to face challenges. A right determination is a force that God approves and it will produce fruits that you will live to enjoy the rest of your life. It was his determination to believe, to obey, and to follow the words and commands of God that gave Joshua all the successes he had, it was not the strength of the men with him or the military might of the children of Israel.

As a believing Christian, God wants you to add determination in whatever you are doing in life; He wants you to add determination to your faith; add determination to your goodness; add determination to your physical and spiritual knowledge; add determination to your efforts in self-control; add determination to your patience; add determination to your level of godliness, add determination to your reading and meditation of the word of God; add determination to your giving; add determination to remaining faithful in tithes and offering, add determination in mutual affection, and add determination in showing love. “For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 8:8.
