“LORD, YOUR VOICE, NOT THAT OF MY SITUATION”

Post date: Feb 12, 2014 5:00:02 AM

Pressure is mounting on you every day from almost everyone and in almost everything. Your attention is being called to question and live is becoming burdensome and confusing every day. Everyone is talking about you, asking you questions and offering solutions because of your situation. Everyday friends and colleagues, parents and family members, divers situations are speaking loud, age is speaking to you, poor financial situation is speaking to you, your spouse and children are speaking, your health and that of your family members are speaking to you, all of them urging you to do something with yourself, yet you have tried several times to fix it without any success.

The words of men puts much pressure on your thoughts about how your future will look like leaving you confused, sick, irritated and unhappy with yourself, with your friends, with family members and others around you. Their word makes you unhappy with your God, discouraged in life, withdrawn from His presence and from friends. Your God does not want you to feel that way and will not allow you to remain in that confused and unhappy state the rest of your life. His word will surely locate you soon for good.

There are several voices saying things to you, taking advantage of your situation to speak, all seeking to get your attention; some are speaking words that will transform your life while others are speaking words that will destroy you. Some are urging you to get up and get out, comparing and contrasting your life, some are urging you to diligently seek God and some are urging to seek help somewhere else. Some are cursing you and some are blessing you. But irrespective of the voices you are hearing, the words you give your heart to wholly accept and vow to follow is what will ultimately affect your life now and in the future. Words are always powerful whether written or spoken, and they are very effective in bringing changes.

Any word you give your ears to hear and your heart to meditate upon is a seeds with the potential to grow and change you as it was intended to in the first place. Words can lead you to your future treasure and words can lead you to your early destruction. Which word and whose words are you giving your ears to hear right now? I pray God will help you hear His voice, believe and accept His word rather than the words of the situation as blind Bartimaeus did that faithful day.

“Then they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, a son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have pity and mercy on me now. And many severely censured and reproved him, telling him to keep still, but he kept on shouting out all the more, You Son of David, have pity and mercy on me now. And Jesus stopped and said, call him. And they called the blind man, telling him, Take courage. Get up, He is calling you. And throwing off his outer garment, he leaped up and came to Jesus. And Jesus said to him, what do you want Me to do for you? And the blind man said to Him, Master, let me receive my sight.  And Jesus said to him, Go your way; your faith has healed you. And at once he received his sight and accompanied Jesus on the road.” Mark 10:46-52

Blind Bartimaeus was able to know the voice of Jesus Christ despite the crowd and that changed his life permanently. He had been sick and had been sustaining himself through begging, but on that faithful day, he needed something more, he needed healing. People shouted him down and discouraged him, some asked him to hold his peace and retreat from asking but he insisted on hearing the voice of Jesus Christ, and when he heard Him, his situation changed instantly for the very best ever.
