WHY DID GOD GRANT JABEZ PRAYER?

Post date: Apr 1, 2015 3:47:33 AM

“There was a man named Jabez who was more honorable than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because his birth had been so painful. He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory. Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain. And God granted him his request.” 1 Chronicle 4:9-10. It will definitely take a process for God to grant your prayer, and fortunately, God had completed his side of the process through the coming, dying and resurrection of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, but on our side, there are lots to be done beginning at receiving salvation through grace, accepting and following the truth of the gospel and applying what we know about our God in our life.

It will interest you to know that Jabez did not begin the process he desired with a blind prayer; he began with a true divine vision and knowledge of himself besides what his parents and family members had known of him and of the family before then; he continued by truly believing and accepting that divine revelation and knowledge which was quite contrary to what others had known and accepted as true; he gave himself to following the direction of the divine revelation and that action prompted him to change his expectations and prayers.

Jabez changed His life completely by believing the vision concerning himself and changing his prayers to conform to that vision and revelation. He refused to follow the old lines of family prayers and family expectations. Jabez fulfilled all his expectations in life by changing his prayers; he changed from the begging prayers to the asking prayer. He changed from asking generally to being very specific in his demands. Jesus said we should ask, not beg. “Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking reverently and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, the door will be opened. Or what man is there of you, if his son asks him for a loaf of bread, will hand him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will hand him a serpent?” Matthew 7:7-10. God is our Father, ask in faith.

Jabez acquired the wealth his entire family generation past could not in their entire life combined by changing his prayers. Jabez enlarged the tent of his possession far beyond the boundaries and the dwelling of his family line by changing his prayers. Jabez changed all of the generational history of his family by changing his prayers. Jabez became great by changing his prayer. Jabez received healing and health, destroyed generational curses and family stigmas by changing his prayer. All that Jabez became in life were through the act of changing his prayers. It will be good to know that Jabez parents were Israelites’ who believed and followed the Almighty God and Jabez also followed the faith of the family but refused to believe what they believed concerning his circumstances.

Jabez knew he was deformed physical but in his revelation, he was honorable and did not accept he was deformed spiritually; he knew his name means sorrow, but did not seek a change of name but rather a change in situation and that was exactly what God did. How long have you been dreaming for certain things? How long have you been planning to begin working on the dream? How long have you been struggling on just that one dream without having the success promised? How long will you remain in a curse, be a curse to your family and generation or continue in the generational curses of your family? Curse should be to him who curses and blessings to him who blesses. You have been changed by Christ Jesus, and from now on, you must pray the prayer of a changed and freed person not that of a begging, struggling, and confused captive in captivity. Not until your prayers changes, your dreams and visions will never be fulfilled. Pray according to your revelation, not your situation. For prayers, Click here.
