God equipped David to have good success over Goliath despite his intimidating credentials in previous battles so that David would be recognized by the people and His plans for him to officially begin. Good success from God will distinguish you from every other success; it will distinguish you from your peers and competitors in the same profession; it will enable you to be firm and strong in the place God had destined for you despite intimidation and threats from the enemies; it will give you stability to focus on what God is doing and intends to do; it will give you confidence and boldness; it will give you honor before men in high and low places; it will give you honor in unusual places; and it will put you in a position that guarantees God's program in the land of the living. When God equipped David, He first tested him before the lions and the bears alone in the forest. That victory gave David the confidence and boldness to openly testify to the hearing of kind Saul and his entire armed men and to go after Goliath in the battlefront.

“David said to Saul; let no man’s courage fail because of Goliath. Your servant will go out and fight with this Philistine. Then Saul said to David, you are not able to go against this Philistine to fight him. For you are only a young man and he has been a warrior since his youth. But David said to Saul, your servant was tending his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and attacked it and rescued the lamb from its mouth; and when it rose up against me, I seized it by its whiskers and struck and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear, and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them since he has taunted and defied the armies of the living God. David said, the Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David, go, and may the Lord be with you. Then Saul dressed David in his garments and put a bronze helmet on his head, and put a coat of mail armor on him. Then David fastened his sword over his armor and tried to walk, but he could not because he was not used to them. And David said to Saul, I cannot go with these because I am not used to them. So David took them off. Then he took his shepherd’s staff in his hand and chose for himself five smooth stones out of the stream bed, and put them in his shepherd’s bag which he had, that is, in his shepherd’s pouch. With the sling in his hand, he approached the Philistine. David said to the Philistine, you come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted. This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. And I will give the corpses of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel and that this entire assembly may know that the Lord does not save with the sword or with the spear; for the battle is the Lord’s and He will hand you over to us.” 1 Samuel 17:32-40, 45-47

When God equips you, the weapons in the possession of all those fighting you will be nothing, ineffective, and useless despite their previous record of success and effectiveness. When God equips you, He will set the right battle that will bring restoration of your honor, your destiny, and His plans for your life; He will set the right date, right time, and right place for the battle; He will go before you and will be with you till the expected victory is announced and you are rightly honored as He did with David. Do not underestimate what God can do with you despite your weakness. He who equipped you knows the battle better and knows what it will take to have the kind of victory you deserve. The good success of David over Goliath made the women to sing his praise and raise his profile above that of King Saul. God equipped David and tested him with the lions and the bears and David proved it to be effective, true, and real over Goliath before the watching eyes of King Saul and his armies.
