UNCERTAINTY TO CERTAINTY

The troubles of many believers today are quite similar to those of Jacob in the days his parents asked him to run from home because of the treat on his life from his brother Esau. But despite the troubles being alike, God through the power of His printed words in the bible had given us the unfailing assurance that we will never be consumed by any of our uncertainties, fears, and worries when we hold on to the promise even in times of uncertainties.

Esau and Jacob started their battle for supremacy from the day of their conception in womb. On inquiry  their mother was told in plain language: “Two nations are in your womb, and the separation of two peoples has begun in your body; the one people shall be stronger than the other, and the elder shall serve the younger” Genesis 25:23. That was a direct word of what was to become of her two children, a word that she strongly believed, held on to and look forward after her delivery. She was quite certain that it will happen and thank God it did happen. Every word you received from God and believed for your life will be fulfilled despite the fears, the doubts, the personal struggles, the pains and the battles from outside. The Lord who promised will work it out Himself in your life as He did in the life of Jacob.

On the day of their birth, the battle was more intense and Esau but Jacob never gave up the hope, never gave up the dream, and never gave up his desire. Please never give up, never look back at the defeats and disgrace of yesterday, the disappointment of delays from the devil are passing, they are not as strong as the promises from God to you. After birth the struggle for supremacy continued. While Jacob was concentrating his thoughts and energy on receiving the spiritual supremacy and confirming the promised word of God, Esau was more interested in the physical supremacy. Esau knew by reason of birth, nothing can take his position, so he decided to play with it, but Jacob believed the word of God can change everything if he holds on to it with time.

At the end, by reason of birth, Esau inherited all the physical blessing of Isaac, and Jacob also inherited all the Spiritual blessings from Abraham through the pronouncement in Isaac’s prayers. It was the pronouncement of the blessing on Jacob that prompted Esau’s envy and plot to destroy Jacob. While on the run for his dear life, Jacob’s uncertainty began, but he was armed with the blessing of Abraham upon his life. Where do your uncertainties began? Where are you now in trying to overcome it? Where do you think you will end up? In every uncertainty as a result of the promise from God, there will always be the God of Jacob to intervene on your behalf. Your uncertainty may have begun the very day you received Christ, or the very day you were married, or the very day you graduated from school, or the very day you began concentrating on your own business, or the very day you had your first child, or the very day you received your paycheck or letter of employment, transfer and promotion, the very day you move into a new city or country, or the very day you had a wild dream or nightmare, or the very day you lost a loved one. In every uncertainty that will ever rise as a result of your pursuing the promise, living in the word of God, trusting God for the unthinkable, and practicing the true love of God, there will always be the God of Jacob to help you and to secure your certainty if you do not give up on the promise.

Though Jacob was quite certain of the blessing, he did not know where he was going, did not know what will happen to him, did not know what he will do, and was in doubt about his future, but he was never forsaken. There is no doubt of the certainty of the blessing in the heart of Jacob after receiving the blessing. The Esau in your life and family might have taken that which rightly belong to you, but yet God is still with you for good, he might be pursuing you with the intent to destroy and render childless, useless, dead and unemployed, yet God is with you for good. This is the word of God for you as you hold on to the promise: “For I am the Lord, I do not change; that is why you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.” Malachi 3:6.  For prayer Click here
