GIVE ME ANSWERS DEAR LORD (5)

When Elijah had prayed to the Almighty and everlasting God, He gave him great answer even in the presence of the people waiting and watching to see his God. He gave him answer even in the presence of King Ahad and his wicked wife Jezebel who wanted to kill him, and in the presence of all their false gods and prophets of Baal working to prove their made gods. “Then call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by setting fire to the wood is the true God, and all the people agreed. About noontime, Elijah began mocking them. You’ll have to shout louder, he scoffed, for surely he is a god. Perhaps he is daydreaming or is relieving himself. Or maybe he is away on a trip, or is asleep and needs to be wakened. So they shouted louder, and following their normal custom, they cut themselves with knives and swords until the blood gushed out. They raved all afternoon until the time of the evening sacrifice, but still, there was no sound, no reply, no response. At the usual time for offering the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet walked up to the altar and prayed, O Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. Prove that I have done all this at your command. O Lord, answer me. Answer me so these people will know that you, O Lord, are God and that you have brought them back to yourself.” 1 Kings 18:24, 27, 36-37. In this case, God answered Elijah by instant fire as he requested. Yours may not be by fire as that of Elijah but God will definitely answer you; it may not be immediately like that of Elijah but the answer will definitely come according to His plans and promises.

When God answered Elijah, it sent an instant message to the people waiting and watching, it sent an immediate message to the undecided, it sent an immediate message to King Ahab and his wife that their end is near; sent a message to the prophets of Baal that their god is false, and it sent an immediate message to everyone else that the God of Elijah is the true God who should be worshiped, followed, believed, trusted, and pray to. The God of Elijah is the God you serve with your whole heart and He will give you answers. Your answered prayers will encourage many, will strengthen many, will restore many, will uphold many, will revive many, and will bless many people in places you do not even know. Oh Lord, give me answers now.

Anytime, anywhere and everywhere that God answers the prayers of His children, there will always be a revival there, a restoration there, joy, praises, celebration, worship of His goodness and mercy. When the Father answered the prayers of Jesus Christ, miracles follows, in two instances five and seven thousand men were miraculously fed and greater number of baskets as leftover remains after; when God answered the prayer of Jesus Christ at the tomb of Lazarus, the dead man was restored back to life, was restored back to his family and there was joy, praises, celebration and revival. When God answered the prayers of the apostles, it brought blessings and confidence to others, it brought healing and joy to many and open their hearts to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord. That answered prayer also gave the apostles boldness and open doors to preach the gospel, to survive hostilities, to overcome adversities and to endue hardship.

“For we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about our trouble in the west coast province of Asia Minor, how we were utterly weighed down, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life itself. Indeed, we felt within ourselves that we had received the sentence of death and were convinced that we would die, but this happened so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead. He rescued us from so great a threat of death and will continue to rescue us. On Him, we have set our hope. And He will again rescue us from danger and draw us near, while you join in helping us by your prayers. Then thanks will be given by many persons on our behalf for the gracious gift of deliverance granted to us through the prayers of many believers.” 2 Corinthians 1:8-11. For prayers, Click here
