OUR REASONABLE COMPANION

Post date: Jun 27, 2012 7:53:04 AM

Each day comes with its own necessary hassle which we all must endeavor to overcome. Some of these hassles are sweet and rewarding, and some are discomforting, unsettling, and mind boggling. Some went through that of yesterday overwhelmed with pains and emotions. Some their world was falling apart, their dreams and investments were collapsing; they are more frustrated, tired, sad, wearied, uncertain, lonely and more confused than ever. Most does not know how they managed to pass through such dangers and fears. But one thing is certain, if God gives you a new day He has something new for you, and He gave us a hint on how to handle each day. “So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble” Matthew 6:34

Christ said yesterday’s troubles, great or small, and the worries of tomorrow should not be our companion today. We should do everything that is necessary, acceptable, and conformable to His words and plans for us to make today our day of joy and change. Paul said we should deliberately put aside what happened yesterday and look forward today with hope to what will happen tomorrow if Christ tarries. Philippian 3:13-14. Let us not add the hassles of yesterday with that of today ‘Sufficient for each day is its own trouble’. By God’s grace, we did survive that of yesterday and will also survive that of today.

Our Lord Jesus does not want us to suffer breakdown in any way. He does not want our thoughts, dreams, desires, vision, and strength to crash under the weight of the uncertainty of what we went through yesterday or what we will go through tomorrow. Many people have three days battle going on in their lives every moment of the day, the battle of what happen yesterday, that which is happening today, and that which will happen tomorrow. Some even have multiple days behind and multiple days ahead to battle with each new day.

Let us make the word of God our reasonable companion each day, rather than the discomforting words of men, thoughts, the reminders of our mistakes, failures, denial, and delays of yesterday. Let faith in the saving grace of God be our reasonable companion today, rather than our fears and worries from what happened yesterday, faith in our Lord does not eliminate hassles but makes all things possible as we approach them each day. Let us make joy our reasonable companion, rather than sadness and bitterness of what went on yesterday. Let us make trust in God our reasonable companion, rather than envy and jealousy of others. Let us make hope in our Lord Jesus our reasonable companion today, rather than cries about what we have missed. Let us make prayers our reasonable companion today, rather than complains. Enough for the day is the trouble therein

With these reasonable companions, through the power of God, we are guaranteed the ornament of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. And they shall rebuild the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former desolations and renew the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations. Aliens shall stand and feed your flocks, and foreigners shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. But you shall be called the priests of the Lord; people will speak of you as the ministers of our God. You shall eat the wealth of the nations, and the glory [once that of your captors] shall be yours. Instead of your shame you shall have a twofold recompense; instead of dishonor and reproach you shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; everlasting joy shall be theirs” Isaiah 61:3-7. Begin walking in this new companion today and you will fulfill your desires in life through Christ Jesus.
