YES, THEY ARE IRREVOCABLE (2)

The strong, the weak, and even those without faith have all suffered from one form of delay or the other in their lives, but delays do not revoke or change the word and the promises of God. Abraham and Sarah who were strong in faith waited twenty-five years for the promised child to be conceived and in those twenty-five years, Sarah wondered about the promise, how it can be or will be fulfilled since she had added many more years to the age and was now considered too old to have a child. Though still with faith in God, she lost all hope, she resorted to other ways, she even laughed at the words of reminder from the three divine visitors sent to to their house by God which she wholeheartedly entertained, but at the end, God proved to her that the promise was not changed, and God showed to her through that conception that the promise was not revoked even by her age or that of Abraham. She still conceived, she still gave birth to the child they had named Isaac when she was not yet pregnant and she lived and saw the child God promised her grow up and become a man. “It was faith that made Abraham obey when God called him to go out to a country which God had promised to give him. He left his own country without knowing where he was going. By faith, he lived as a foreigner in the country that God had promised him. He lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who received the same promise from God. For Abraham was waiting for the city which God has designed and built, the city with permanent foundations. It was faith that made Abraham able to become a father, even though he was too old and Sarah herself could not have children. He trusted God to keep his promise. Though Abraham was practically dead, from this one man came as many descendants as there are stars in the sky, as many as the numberless grains of sand on the seashore.” Hebrews 11:8-12

Let your faith remain in and with God, He will work out the ‘how’ His promises will be fulfilled for you. He is the maker of all things and He will make yours possible. When you wonder how it will be, how you will make it, how people will come to your help, how will you have the money, how will you succeed in see the promises, you will be more confused. Despite what you see and what you know and will ever experience, do not forget the promise; despite your age and lack, do not forget the promise; despite the sufferings and the pains, do not forget the promise; despite the daily challenges and fears, hold on to the promise. Abraham and Sarah did not forget the promise twenty-five years after, they constantly remind themselves, their suffering, their wealth, the words of men and the shame of Sarah did not make them forget the promise. In the sight of God, the promise was irrevocable, but in their eyes and understanding, their age has revoked the promise. God is not a man that He should lie, what He said, He will definitely fulfill.

Wondering what is going on with and around you? Wondering what is happening these days in your marriage, family, with your children, and with your spouse? Wondering what will happen hereafter, what to do after a disappointment, after a failure, and after a humiliation? Wondering what to do in your current lonely state and lack thereof? Wondering won’t help in solving problems, it won’t help in maintaining a godly heart and free mind. It is good to know that the Almighty God is still in control of the words He has and the promises He gave to you; His words to you are true, they are no irrevocable, they will be fulfilled, you will see them, and you will rejoice in having them.

“No longer will the sun be your light by day or the moon be your light by night; I, the Lord will be your eternal light; the light of my glory will shine on you. Your days of grief will come to an end. I, the Lord will be your eternal light, more lasting than the sun and moon. Your people will all do what is right and will possess the land forever. I planted them, I made them, to reveal my greatness. Even your smallest and humblest family will become as great as a powerful nation. When the right time comes, I will make this happen quickly. I am the Lord.” Isaiah 60:19-22. For prayers, Click here
