DEAR LORD, I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A BAD NAME (2)

There are things that come to you unintentionally and there are things that happen intentionally outside of your plans and knowledge and the results are frightful and disturbing to you yet the devil and the enemies waiting to celebrate your fall uses such things to stigmatize you and to hurt you; uses such to abuse you and call you names that are offensive and shameful. All the enemies around you have set their mind to call you the name you don’t want, you don’t deserve and even as you refuse to accept such names, you see yourself being called by it in reference to the things that had happened to you intentionally or intentionally.

Did you know God has heard and knows all the derogatory names that had been given to you by the enemies because of your past or current situation? Did you know God had not accepted that name for you despite the situation? Did you know God can either change that situation, change you, or deliver from that situation? But because God does not accept that name for you, He will do something new in, or with, or through you to change the situation and thereby change you and bring you into a new name, the name He desired and had designed for you. This is what God said to Mary the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ concerning her cousin Elizabeth through the Angel: “And listen, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age, and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month. For with God nothing is or ever shall be impossible. Then Mary said, behold, I am the servant of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” Luke 1;36-38. God knew what Elizabeth was going through, He knew the name that she was called by reason of her situation, and He knew what He will do. God purposely announced that to Mary to convey a message that He can do all things and that there is no impossibility with Him referring her to Elizabeth and what people had said and called her. God assured Mary that the name given to Elizabeth by her enemies had been changed and Mary was so happy and ran immediately to see Elizabeth and thereby confirm what she heard that day. Because God had set you up and you know Him, He will either change you or change the situation. He does not want you to answer that name again.

It hurts to be called a name that is offensive; it hurts to be called a name you don’t deserve; it hurts to be called a name you don’t like; and it hurts to be called a name that limits you, makes you feel shameful in the public and privately. One of the things that compelled Jabez to go to God for a change was the name he grew up to hear people call him publicly and he knew the meaning of the name and the implications of the name. What Jabez knew in the name compelled him to pray earnestly to God. remember the name was given to him by his parents and he dislikes it and was offended by it because it draws people attention to him in a negative way. In his prayers, he did not ask God to change the name but to change his situation. If God had changed the name and still leave him in that physical situation, it would have still been offensive to him, but he asked God to change the situation and when that happened, his life was changed.

I want you to pay attention to the reason Jabez mother gave him that name, pay attention to Jabez prayer to God when he realized that name was hurting him physically and spiritually. “Jabez was more honorable than his brothers; but his mother named him Jabez, saying because I gave birth to him in pain. Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, saying, Oh that You would indeed bless me and enlarge my border, and that Your hand would be with me, and You would keep me from evil so that it does not hurt me. And God granted his request.” 1 Chronicles 4:9-10. God is able to do what He will do but He had given us the opportunity to ask what we want in our life and if it is according to His words and plans for us, He will definitely do them. When asking God in your prayers, be specific and always aim that the answer will glorify Him and uplift His purpose. Are you asking God to change you or change the situation? Prayer RequestClick here
