“And the Babylonian king told Ashpenaz, the chief of his officials, to bring in some of the sons of Israel, including some from the royal family and from the nobles, young men without blemish and handsome in appearance, skillful in all wisdom, endowed with intelligence and discernment, and quick to understand, competent to stand in the presence of the king and able to serve in the king’s palace. He also ordered Ashpenaz to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans. The king assigned a daily ration for them from his finest food and from the wine which he drank. They were to be educated and nourished this way for three years so that at the end of that time they were prepared to enter the king’s service. Among them from the sons of Judah were, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. The commander of the officials gave them Babylonian names, Daniel he named Belteshazzar, Hananiah he named Shadrach, Mishael he named Meshach, and Azariah he named Abed-nego.” Daniel 1:3-7.

Daniel, Hananiah, and Azariah were all true Israelites, young men with dreams and desires and zeal who were determined to follow God, to worship the true God, to trust God and be successful in whatever they were doing. The three were without blemish, handsome in appearance, skillful in all wisdom, endowed with intelligence, discernment, quick to understand, competent to stand in the presence of any man; they were young, energetic, educated, talented and aspiring in life and in purpose, but one day, their dreams, desires, and efforts to make life better, rewarding, and sweet for themselves came to an end when they suddenly found themselves with others as captives of war and taken to a foreign Nation as prisoners.

While these three young men thought it was all over for their dreams, and for their desires in this life, unknown to them was the fact that God was still interested in them despite being captives and in prison, God was still keeping the dreams He gave to them alive when they thought it was dead and will never be fulfilled, God was still keeping their desires alive when they thought it will never come to pass again because of being in prison. God was actually preparing them for something bigger and greater in life than their dreams and their desires and God was making the way for them to be accomplished as planned and purposed even in that foreign Nation that had taken them captive and kept as prisoners.

Let me inform that you that the prison walls of afflictions, of pains, of shame, of loneliness, of lack, of language barriers, of lack of purposeful helpers, of poverty, of sickness, of injustice, and of inequality cannot and will not prevent the will and plans and purpose of God for your life. In His love, God will and can still make a way for you and He will make it. What God had given to you is still alive and will be useful, His gifts that you thought you have lost, His mercies that you thought is not working again in you because of the past, or the present, the God-given talents you think cannot deliver you or bless you are still active and will be useful. The education, the training, and learning that God enabled you to have and expose you to in life, the certificates you have been able to obtain will bring you gains despite not being able to use them now. In His love and mercy, those things in you that had been dormant will be made alive, active, useful and they will bring you much and greater gains according to God’s plans for your life.

Those were the cases of these three young men. They were of a royal and a noble family without blemish, handsome, skillful in all wisdom, endowed with intelligence, discernment, and quick to understand, competent and able to learn, yet they found themselves in prison, in a place they will not be able to use what God had given to them; they found themselves in a place of limitation, in a place of hindrance and with language barrier, yet God was in the prison with them making the way for them to not only be free, but useful and accomplished. I see God making the way for you as He did for these three young men. For prayers, Click here
