After thirty-eight years of sickness, help came for this man from a source he never expected before; after thirty-eight years of rejection by friends and family, help came for this man even in his rejected place; after thirty-eight years of loneliness, help came when he was managing in his loneliness; after thirty-eight years of wondering and not knowing what next to do in his entire life, help came for this man; after thirty-eight years of living with fear of what will happen if he dies, help came for this man; after thirty-eight of hoping with bigger than life expectations, help came for this man; after thirty-eight years of living with an ailment he could not understand that defies medical solutions and the knowledge science, help came for this man; after thirty-eight of lost aspirations, lost dreams, lost ambitions, and lost visions, help came for this man; and after thirty-eight years in a wrong camp with others, help came for this man. I do not know what camp the devil had kept you all these years; I do not know what had held you captive all these years; I do not know how many years you have spent trying to be freed; I do not know what ailment or mistake took you there; I do not know the efforts you have made all these years to change things for yourself and get out; I do not know what people are saying to your hearing and the shame you are suffering right now; and I do not know if you have been rejected by friends and family as this man was, but what I know is that your day of help will come, your moment of help is here, and your day with the destiny that Christ ordained for your life is here to stay.

These things were sure; this man knew he was sick; the family knew he was sick; the man and the family knew he needed to be healed and they knew where to go for the healing; they knew he needed help at the place and some family members may have followed him there and stood by to offer help when the water is stirred; people may have stood by him initially, offered to help him initially, but when the wait was getting too long, their patience and expectations were dying, they felt disappointed and frustrated and left the man at the pool alone for their respective homes and businesses; but the man never felt disappointed though he was discouraged; he had no alternative place to go and no alternative or better thing to do else than to wait; they left him but he did not forget the mission that took him there and decided to stay back even when everyone else who could have been of help to him had left. What a situation when we are in desperate need. People we trust will leave, some will be frustrated by our actions, some will not want to wait with us a little longer; some will be busy with their own business and felt it is not worth leaving their own affairs to attend to your our affair. But whatever is the feeling of others, I want you to do what this man did, believe that help will come; when they leave, believe that God will not leave; when they are disappointed and frustrated, refuse to be disappointed and frustrated; when they act in their own understanding, act on what you know and believe. This man saw others healed and waited and glory to God, his helper came and helped him, God will help you also.

“Later on there was a Jewish feast, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now in Jerusalem, near the Sheep Gate, there is a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porticoes. In these porticoes lay a great number of people who were sick, blind, lame, withered, waiting for the stirring of the water; for an angel of the Lord went down into the pool at appointed seasons and stirred up the water; the first one to go in after the water was stirred was healed of his disease. There was a certain man there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus noticed him lying there helpless, knowing that he had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, do you want to get well? The invalid answered, Sir, I have no one to put me in the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am coming to get into it myself, someone else steps down ahead of me. Jesus said to him, get up; pick up your pallet and walk. Immediately the man was healed and recovered his strength, and picked up his pallet and walked.’ John 5:1-9. For prayers Click here
