"AS GOD GRANTED JABEZ’S PRAYER"

Post date: Jun 13, 2017 4:41:34 AM

Despite the attacks from the devil, despite the shame he endured, despite the humiliations he endured and despite the evidence of pains and parental anger expressed against him and seen in all of his siblings before him, Jabez prayed and God answered all of his prayers and granted all of his requests. As God answered Jabez, so will He answered you; as the things he suffered did not stop him from calling his God, so will nothing stop you from calling on God in prayers; as he lived to testify to the goodness of the Almighty God, so will you live to testify to the goodness of the Almighty God also; you will not remain rejected indefinitely and you your tears will not continue indefinitely. As God answered Jabez, so will He also answer you. As God took over and above his pains, fear, and disabilities, so will He take you over and above everything that had kept you back, sick, rejected and discouraged.

“There was a man named Jabez who was more honorable than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because his birth had been so painful. He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory. Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain. And God granted him his request.” 1 Chronicle 4:9-10. It will definitely take a process for God to grant your prayer, and fortunately, God had completed his side of the process through the coming, dying, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; but on our side, there are lots to be done beginning at receiving salvation through grace, accepting and following the truth of the gospel and applying what we know about our God in our daily activities. It will interest you to know that Jabez did not begin the process he desired with a blind prayer; he began with a true vision of what God can do and knowledge of himself besides what his parents and family members had known of him before; he continued by truly believing and accepting that divine revelation and knowledge which was contrary to what others had seen, known, and accepted as true in their lives; he gave himself to follow the direction of the divine revelation and that action prompted him to change his expectations through his prayers.

Jabez changed His life by believing the vision concerning himself and changing his prayers to conform to that vision. He refused to follow the old lines of family knowledge, prayers, vision, and expectations. Jabez fulfilled all his expectations by changing his prayers; he changed from the begging prayers to the asking player. He changed from asking generally to being specific in his demands. Jesus said we should ask, not beg but: “Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking reverently and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, the door will be opened. Or what man is there of you, if his son asks him for a loaf of bread, will hand him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will hand him a serpent?” Matthew 7:7-10. God is our Father, ask in faith.

Jabez acquired the wealth the entire generations past in his family could not by changing his prayers; Jabez enlarged the tent of his possession far beyond the boundaries and the dwelling of his family line by changing his prayers; Jabez changed the generational history of his family by changing his prayers; Jabez became great by changing his prayer; Jabez received healing and health, destroyed generational curses and family stigmas by changing his prayer; all that Jabez became in life were through the act of changing his prayers. It will be good to know that Jabez parents were Israelites’ who believed and followed the Almighty God and Jabez also followed the faith of the family but refused to believe what they believed concerning his circumstances. Jabez knew had disabilities but in his vision, he was honorable and thereafter refused to allow the disability to dictate his future; you can change what you are when you know what God can do and will do when you pray. As God answered Jabez, He can answer you. For prayers, Click here
