OUR NEEDS, THE DEMAND

“Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth” 1 Chronicles 16:8-12

Humanity is face with enormous pressing needs each day which demands absolute attention. Some of these needs are genuine and some are not. This need has so much occupied our daily activities such that a twenty-four hours day is not sufficient anymore for an average person. But there is a need that is required besides every other need.

Man will never be sufficient in all things. The more man acquires, the more they feel the need for more. The more they have, the more they feel insecure and the more protection they will need. It takes one with the active working of the spirit of God in his or her live to be contented in life. Being contented in life does not mean the absence of need or the absence of the drive for more wealth, but it means the willingness to appreciate God in it and to make adequate provision to honor God in all situations in our lives despite our experiences.

There are many things we should learn to emulate in life. Many lifestyle we should deliberately encourage ourselves to follow. The Bible is filled with good examples of men who had distinguished themselves in services to God and to humanity that glorifies God on earth.

The devil will always seek to distract people with many things in life, but if you will deliberately purse and take a look at the God who saved you, called you, keep you alive despite the odds, keep you going despite the devil’s several attempts to halt you, His words, His work, His judgment, His wonders in time past, His promises now and in the future, you will be assured that the distraction of the devil will not prevail against you for too long. The devil hates people who persist in the things of God despite their enormous needs each day.

King David gave us a clue to his contentment despite his suffering, wealth and recognition in his nation.  He said we should endeavor to always give thanks to the Lord and learn to proclaim His greatness despite our present situation. We should let the whole world know what He has done to us personally and to others. It is a miracle that some of us are still living today. We should sing His praise even in adversity. We should tell everyone about His wonderful deeds. We should exult His holy name with a joyful heart and always rejoicing.

He went on to advise us; as do the above, we should not forget to search for His strength and continually seek His presence. Remembering the wonders He has performed in the past, His miracles to others, and the rulings He has given in cases that involves others.

While the devil distracts us with our needs and demands, sickness and pains, lacks and frustration, if we will also invest our time in doing what is stated in 1 Chronicles 16:8-12 above, I am convinced the Lord will bless our ways and make His grace to be multiplied in us and will meet our needs.

Despite all pressing needs, give your time also to seek and recognize the giver of life and the maker of all things. While worshiping and praising God, never forget to seek His face, His strength, His wonders and His judgment continually, in doing this, you will experience the power that changes situations and that which the devil cannot resist.
